Who is God? Creator? Trustworthy source of Scripture??

On the Trinity Thread the issue keeps coming on regarding our understanding of just exactly WHO and even WHAT God is and the risk of being wrong in that area.

Let's be practical for a minute.

Some claim that God created the Earth and all life on it - and the Sun and the moon inside the exact 7 day timeline that Genesis speaks of -

That same group claims that God did exactly as He said - and His word is in fact a "trustworthy account" of His role as our Creator EVEN when it comes to Genesis 1 through 2:3!

They point out that in John 1:1-4 the GOSPEL of John STARTS with the Creator status of Christ and that JUST as this is foudation for the Gospel in John 1 so it is the foundation for ALL of scripture in Genesis 1.

But there are "others" who would argue that Genesis 1-2:3 is

    NOT accurate

NOT a trustworthy account of the origin of all life

    NOT literally true

NOT authored by God but rather by superstitious clouded-thinking - scientifically-ignorant humans long ago who in many ways simply borrowed existing stories from pagans.

Those people claim to have faith in the accuracy of myths and junk-science of atheist darwinists around them rather than faith in such a flawed account for origins as they find in God's Word. They claim they can re-work God's statement on HIS Creative work without doing damage to the Gospel or the concept of God. Many of these same people in fact will bash others who fail to get the concept of the Trinity in exact detail AND YET hold to a much more accurate view of God as literal CREATOR.

Now obviously I am drawing a comparison between those who reject God's Word regrading His literal Creative work and those who fail to see all the details about the Trinity. My claim is that to deny the Creator role of God is far more destructive to the entire Christian faith than failing to work through the Trinity any farther than John the baptizer had -

    What say you??

    in Christ,

    Bob
