1John 1:7 (KJV), "If we walk in the light, as he [Jesus] is in the light, we have fellowship with one another."

Does anyone in here know of a person today who walks in The Light as Jesus is now in The Light? Anyone?

Everyone who has confessed Him as Lord and believed in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead.

"In the Gospel, the incarnate Christ is the light that continues to shine in the darkness of a world that tries to exclude Him. Believers are faced with a choice: either to “walk in the light,” coming to Him and opening their hearts to Him in confession of sin, or to “walk in darkness,” denying that they are sinners. The contrast between light and darkness is inseparably linked to a contrast between those who “practice the truth” and agree with God, and those who make God “a liar.” Reformation Study Bible

All true Christians walk in the light by God's Spirit.

    5 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

    3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Here is a list of easily observed reasons why The Reformation Study Bible as cited has no bearing upon this topic:

1.) Jesus does not walk in the light by confessing sin.

2.) Jesus never needed to "open His heart," primarily because the concept of "opening our heart" is never spoken of in Scripture.

3.) If a person walks in The Light as does Jesus the World will exclude them. But, this does not happen here in America where The Founding Fathers wrote Federal Laws to protect Christian ideologies.

Tell me, do you walk in the Light as Jesus is right now in the Light? The question here remains, "Does anyone today walk in the Light as does Jesus?" Talking around the periphery of an issue does not address it.

It is clear in scripture we are the light:

Mat_5:14 "You are the light of the world. ...

It is clear in scripture we have the light:

Mat_5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, ...

Joh_12:36 While you have the light....

Joh_12:46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

We walk in the light as Jesus is now the light because the light comes from Christ, we have His light, his righteousness, and His glory.

Joh 17:20 "I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
Joh 17:21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Joh 17:22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
Joh 17:23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.
Joh 17:24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
Joh 17:25 O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me.
Joh 17:26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them."

Thanks for being strong enough to come to me for help in understanding the issue here.

1 John 1:7 very clearly specifies the issue is to be walking in the Light "as He [Jesus] is in the light," and not just in any old amount of light.

Do you walk as Jesus "is" in the Light, right now "as" He "is" in Heaven? If so, what corresponding aspects of your day to day walk would one observe?

The answer is yes, I do! If you read the passage you posted it never says Jesus walked in darkness, or opened His heart, He didn't have to as He was never in darkness. We being humans were, or might still be. After accepting His gift of salvation, we walk in the light.

I marvelously agree that arrogance is not a virtue, and victoriously praise God that presumption upon Scripture is part of arrogance.

Do you know of any living person who "Walks in the Light as Jesus is in the Light" right now?

Do you walk in the Light "as Jesus is in the Light?"

Remember, merely citing Scriptures that use the word "light" does not mean "we all have the light." For instance, observing the historic record of Jesus' Light does not mean one is walking in the Light. And, reading how Jesus told fellow Jews in The Sermon on the Mount, who only knew The Law and knew nothing about The Gospel, that they were "The Light of the World" in no manner relates to The Church today.

Merely citing Scripture which uses the word "light" within its text does not bear upon the issue of this thread. Thanks for bringing your finest contribution, here, for us to see.

Do you walk in the Light as does Jesus today "is" doing?

It is clear, and my suspicion is confirmed, you do not know what it means to walk in the light.

It is completely false that they did not know the gospel in the OT. I do not know what religion teaches such an idea but that is heresy.

The light is the righteousness and the glory of God. We walk in the light because we have both Christ's righteousness and His glory as I have shown in John 17.

Oh, and I did not merely quote scripture I presented the scripture that you need to know to learn what walking in the light actually is.

Also you, not being a Baptist, are not allowed to post in the "Baptist only" sections. You need to post in the "other Christian Denominations" section.

Jesus now resides in Heaven beside The Father, where there is incredibly supernatural physical light, and there is the indescribably overwhelming Spiritual Light of The Father without ever stopping.

Is that the Light you walk in, or do you just think about it in symbolic terms, and try to sometimes talk about it when the subject arises? Remember, that is the Light Jesus "is" in.

Oh, indeed I am a Baptist. I have been baptized into Jesus both with water and with The Spirit. I have attended Baptist Fellowships. Thank you for your hand of Brotherhood. Perhaps some day we will share a holy kiss.

Tell me how you walk in the Glory of God as does Jesus.

As Rev Mitchell politely tried to show you, your definition of light here is wrong. The light is a cleansing from our sins by Christ's death on the cross and by that a holy communion or personal relationship with God. Oh look, I made a circle.

I'll bite. Not sure of your point, but as a child of God, I literally have God with me at all times, in the form of the Holy Spirit. So yes, I am walking in the light as Jesus "is" currently, being with the Father. Can you physically see this light? No. It's a spiritual light, exactly as the light from the Father in heaven in a spiritual light. Not to be seen by imperfect, physical eyes. This seems to be the kind of answer you are looking for; a literal one.

Spiritually speaking, also yes. As a born again christian, I have had my eyes open to see the things of God, and therefore walk in the light. No longer in darkness, but having the light of God to reveal truth, as Jesus saw (and sees) truth.

Yes, it is very easy to look and see how churchy sounding aphorisms are circular.

"Is" Jesus in the cleansing of His own Light, needing to be cleansed? Remember, 1 John 1:7 is about walking in the Light as He "is" in the Light. (Hint: There is a sure answer to that question.)
