Who was Melchizedek???

Have you ever read New Testament ?

Heb 7
3 Without father, without mother, without descent, F19 having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

 

melchizedek was a normal person like me and you. who was a king of a city named 'salem' - was made in the likeness of God. his lifestyle represented that of Christ. his memories went on forever.

the reason hebrews says that melchizedek had no mother or father is because there were no records being kept at that time - they had no way of knowing.

Salem is a real city that melchizedek was king of.
he was not Jesus Christ in the flesh.
Melchizidek was a real person - that abraham gave tithe to - before tithe was commanded.

if melchizedek was Jesus Christ in flesh - then Christ's second coming has already come - and we're in the millenium.

if melchizedek was not flesh and blood at all - but rather a spirit. how was tithe given to him?

Joshua 10 mentions that the "long day" is chronicled in the Book of Jasher. That book is in existence today and available online.

Basically it confirms your view that Abraham and Shem were contemporaries. It goes much further. It relates that Abram's parents hid him and his mother in a cave for 10 years after his birth to protect him from King Nimrod. Then he went to live with Noah and Shem for 39 years. They are the ones who taught him of Jehovah, since his family were pagans.

It is quite likely that Noah, Shem and Abram all witnessed the failed attempt to build the tower of Babel. Jasher also decribed the tower which required a base several miles square. That's miles, not feet or yards. Gives you a sense of the magnitude of the project.

Other interesting vignettes. Nimrod was killed by Esau, who fled and was exhausted and hungry when he finally got home. In his weakened, starving state, he thought he was going to die, so trading his birthright was no big deal. We know the rest.

Jasher is non-canonical, but does have some credibility because of its mention in Joshua and I Samuel. It does fill in a lot of blanks.

One more resemblance of Melchizedek to the Son of God:

He brought Bread and Wine to Abraham, after the victory of Abraham. (Genesis 14:18)

Jesus gave us the Bread and Wine which is to be celebrated after His Victory at the Cross.

Jesus was King of Righteousness, King of Peace ( Isaiah 9:6) and had no earthly father, no earthly mother ( Mary was just a surrogate mother, not the biological mother, Jesus was the Creator of Mary), no days of beginning, no end of life, everlasting priest, no genealogy ( Mt1, Lk 4 show the genealogy for His surrogate mother and step father to show to the human beings).

Whose goings forth have been from of old, from ever lasting. ( Micah 5:2)

So Heb 7 says Melchizedek is like unto Son of God, because they are 2 photograhs of one person, one before Incarnation (enfleshing) the other after Incarnation, like the comparison between the photo of youth and the other photo of old age.

Jesus identifies Himself the same as the one Abraham saw ( John 8:56-58)

Your father rejoiced to see my day and he saw it, and was glad. ( Jn 8:56) ( some people argue that Jesus mentioned His day, not Him)

Hast thou seen Abraham ? ( Jn 8:57)

Before Abraham was, I am

Jesus didn't deny that Abraham saw Him.
