    Phebe

No matter how much we "modern" believers argue, Phebe/Phoebe is called by the same word (deacon) as were the first seven i n Jerusalem.

    Bill (an ordained SBC deacon)

    That's a very good question.

But it certainly is a big deal to some people. Our church here in Fort Worth has falsely been characterized as "liberal" by the seminary leadership and trustees because we have women serving as deacons in the church.

We have a church council form of government, so the deacons don't "run the church", they actually serve the needs of the membership and community and assist the vocational ministers.

Being a servant in the Church doesn't make you a Deacon, as this office is outlined by Paul, (1 Timothy 3:8-13). Paul's inspired words seem pretty clear to me. "...the husband of one wife..."

Careful, with the lack of morals in the world today someone may think this means two women if one agrees to be the husband.

I thought it would be nice to bring this poll up again so newer members can vote.

So, homosexuality is approved by Paul!
