    Yes, it is "nitpicky," brother. But I believe when you are dealing with the Gospel, you have to be that way. Christ alone. Justification by faith alone. Yes, you had to receive it, but even your reception is of grace. Faith is a gift. You believed on your own, that is, you placed your faith in Christ to save you. God did not do that for you. What He did do was to give you the faith.

    Still, to say "just as if I'd never sinned" takes out the fact that a SINNER has been justified. That one who has broken God's Law has been justified. I think we need to make it clear that God doesn't look at us as being innocent, He looks at Christ as being innocent (because He is), and that we are dressed in HIS righteousness.
