This is not the reason I became a Baptist, but the more I read of this book, the more I appreciated being one.

(Note. . I did create this web page so that everyone could read the text of this booklet, however I did not link it to any page that advertises any ministry, church, business, etc.), the link will only give you access to the booklet. I hope this is not a violation of the rules, just trying to get info out, wasn't sure of a better way. If this post is a problem let me know and I will edit it accordingly.)

I'm a Baptist because I loved the people at my church because they showed love and concern for me! I liked my Pastor, and now He's a close friend of mine. When I join my Baptist Church,I didn't know what theology was! All I knew was that I loved Jesus because He 1st loved me.
I' m in a church where Jesus is preached and folks get saved and then get baptized! Plus baptist know how to EAT!!!

Not only am I a Baptist because I became aware of Who Jesus Christ is and how He can save me through the Baptist Student Union at Southwest Texas State University in February 1984, and because after accepting Him as my Lord and Saviour was led by the Holy Spirit to a Baptist church in San Marcos, TX; I am also a Baptist because their beliefs are pretty much in line with what Holy Scripture teaches.

I am also a baptist by choice, as some have stated, and also because of what we preach, and teach. ( All by the grace and providence of God of course )

But let me ask everyone that has responed to this question, a second question.

Did it ever occur to any of you that a good reason to be a baptist is because of your convictions about the doctrine of the church itself.

Does it ever cross anyones mind that of all of the so-called churches out there that there can only be one group who are still continuing to carry the torch from the first century church?

Or I suppose that maybe some have never considered the notion.

Just a side note, although we've not always been called Baptist, Baptists are not a denomination, we are not Protestants, we did not come out of the reformation, and we were not started by a man.
(That is unless you are referring to the God-man.)

Whatever happened to being a Baptist because we are what's left of The Lord's true churches. [IMG]

I am a Baptist because people in a Baptist church loved me like one of their own family members. When I was lost, they prayed for my salvation. When I was a stranger, they invited me in. When I had neck surgery, they came to the hospital and prayed over me. When my children were born, they fed our family for a week. When my mother died, they bought my airline ticket so I could attend her funeral. When I was out of a job, one of them gave us money to buy our kid's Christmas gifts. The never talked to me about "Priesthood of the Believer" or a Baptist Faith and Message or any other doctrine that I recall. I learned all of that stuff on my own. All they did was love me and my family as Christ taught them to.
