    Reports out today:

    Democracy Now:

A new report says the Bush administration concealed the discovery of chemical weapons in Iraq that had been developed with U.S. support in the 1980s — and then denied medical care to the wounded American soldiers involved. According to The New York Times, U.S. troops secretly reported finding more than 5,000 chemical warheads, shells or bombs after the 2003 invasion. All of the chemical weaponry predated 1991, just one year after Saddam Hussein stopped being a U.S. ally and recipient of the Western military aid that helped build his arsenal. At least 17 American and six Iraqi troops were wounded in their handling of the munitions in six separate incidents between 2004 and 2011. The weapons’ existence was kept from the troops entering those areas, and officials denied the victims the care they needed. One soldier talked about his health problems as a result of chemical exposure.

Andrew Goldman: “I still have residual blisters every now and then. I still have a lot of trouble breathing. I have a constant headache. I haven’t not had a headache since 2008 … Only thing I can think of is politics. Doesn’t jive with the story they wanted.”

In addition to raising new questions about the neglect of soldiers’ health and the Bush administration’s false pretext for going to war, the disclosure also carries implications for Iraq’s ongoing crisis. The Islamic State now controls most of the territory where the chemical weapons were found.

    New York Times (via RT):

“In five of six incidents in which troops were wounded by chemical agents, the munitions appeared to have been designed in the United States, manufactured in Europe and filled in chemical agent production lines built in Iraq by Western companies…”

As reported by RT and others, the chemical weapons, etc., that the US provided Saddam Hussein:

…may now be in the hands of Islamic State militants [who now control the very areas where the weapons were found].

People are acting like this is all new information, but it is absolutely not.

    Hmmmm...

First there were WMDs, then there wasn't, then there was...

It's more about the theory than the facts. Right, Poncho?

Hard to tell what the facts really are when both sides lie faster than a horse can trot and the conglomerated corporate media covers for them.

There is this fact, both sides are as crooked as corkscrews and depend on their faithful duped followers to defend them instead holding them accountable. So far their followers have been doing a great job.

Because we love to play favorites so much we're drifting into a totalitarian form of government but by golly our leader's "good names" will be intact when we get there!

That's all that really matters right Carpro?

    You have a point.

Got a question for you. What would be Bush's motive for hiding the finding of the WMDs he said we went to war to find? That saddam got them from us? That's just too simple to be the answer. I think the whole world knew we armed them when they were fighting Iran. So what's the big deal?

    Your theory, of course.

I doubt very much Bush had a motive other than make his crony's happy and stay out of prison for committing war crimes. Maybe he was protecting Poppy Bush and Donald Rumsfeld. Hard for me to say I don't think like a criminal. :)

I have never understood why it mattered if there was chemical weapons or not. The fact remains that George Bush took us into an unjust war. Iraq is a sovereign country and they have the right to own. We have them and they have the same right. George Bush was a tyrant an lead us into an unjust war which has brought about what we see today with the help of the current President.
Both Bush and Obama broke the law and neither should have any place in history that honors them.

Bush did not take us into an unjust war. The war began in 1991. When Bush jr. went back in it was after 12 years of Saddam breaking the agreements of the legal cease fire that was in place all the years Clinton was in office.

Nearest I can tell based on other reports I am not sure of Rove was the mastermind behind hiding the found WMD's. The real motivation is uncertain but politics is beleived to be the answer.

Almost seven years into this administration and we are still blaming Bush. There is lots of innuendo and few facts in this article.

Pardon my ignorance but how would you know the weapons were designed in the U.S.?
And even if they were, they were not manufactured or assembled here.

It would have been to President Bush's advantage to make this known.
There must be more to the story than the NY Times and the yellow-journalists are writing.

Our design of chemical weapons is in the history books and not exactly a state secret.

The chemical weapons in the depot in Arkansas were eliminated years ago at great expense.

By the cursory evidence provided, you can only guess who "designed" and who developed the "production lines" that filled the weapons.

Anyway, I have no problem with the U.S. contractors assisting to develop general manufacturing capabilities in foreign companies... the foreign countries are responsible to develop those sites to aid and improve the lives of their people. The modification of the sites for destructive purposes is on the foreign countries shoulders.

I see little new here and nothing that would be necessary to make it a state secret.

Yep and we're still using the "blaming Bush deflection" as well I see.

Ya gotta love those party talking points. What ever would we all talk about if we didn't have someone else putting thoughts in our heads and words in our mouth?

Ignorance is best overcome by increasing our knowledge.

Of course when we've already chosen to side with one group over another it becomes paramount to only see what that group wishes us to see. Knowledge from outside of the group becomes a no no.

"Hey my guy is innocent I tell ya!"

Long live the false left vs right paradigm! It's kept more crooks out of jail and in power than OJ Simpson's "dream team".

As long as we refuse to see beyond the left vs right paradigm none of the crooks in government will ever be held accountable, so enjoy the totalitarian government you're encouraging by not holding "your guy" accountable.

All together now, yer left yer left yer left right left. :BangHead:

Look at the bright side, you can always blame Obama for it all, God knows "our guys" had nothing to do with it.
