    Good.

Who has put forward a balanced budget amendment?

    Who has killed it.

At this time no one has killed anything although I assume it will be. The thing is if the republicans were any different then the democrats they would have done this while they had the power of both houses and the presidency but they did not. They know this will not pass and that this is nothing but political wrangling for election purposes. They are as much a bunch of hypocrites as the democrats. Both parties need to be booted out as both parties are equally responsible for the mess we are in.

    It's a straightforward question.

    Why not a straightforward answer?

Afraid the truth will undermine your supposed neutrality?

I support a balanced budget amendment. So does our local liberal talk radio host, Andy Johnson.

Call your liberal leaders. They're out of sync with most Americans.

As long as we allow the printing presses to be turned on and create money out of thin air and then allow it to dilute the money supply there will always be a way to deficit spend without violating any constitutional amendment to the contrary.

The "deficit" is then passed on to the citizen (and even globally) via the inevitable inflation.

Of course, if we the people did that we would commit the crime of counterfeiting.

A gold and silver standard is the only answer.

As in the debt ceiling threads, your grasp of facts is tenuous, at best. You say Republicans supported Obama's stimulus package, which is obviously wrong:

Obama's Stimulus Bill Passes the House With No GOP Support

    By MARK MOONEY
    Jan. 28, 2009

The House has approved President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan, but the victory came without any of the Republican support that Obama hoped for.

The $819 billion stimulus bill passed the House 244 to 188, but not a single Republican voted for it. Eleven Democrats broke with their party and voted against the stimulus.

So, into the killfile for you.

Had there been such an amendment at the time, we could not have entered WWII. Bad idea. And for you GoPers, Reagan utilized many debt ceiling raises.

Bull. Easy enough to include an exception in times of congressionally declared war...

The politicians need to be FORCED to live within our means....cause thats the ONLY way they will ever do it.

Baloney. Exceptions for war or major national catastrophe could easily be written in.

Reagan had 17 of them. All of them added together amounted to less than the one Obama wants now, and this is his fourth trip to the trough.

Likewise they were all short term. He didn't seek to hide the issue during election time.

17 All very short. Amounting to 1.9 trillion total and he managed to rebuild a navy with it, which we are using extensively to support Obama's various wars.

Obama wants 2.5 trillion, for a total of about 5.5 trillion in his 4 requests in 2 1/2 years, and more time than has ever been allowed before.

After having wasted at least trillion on a stimulus that provided almost no jobs except in government, he'll be back for a lot more to waste later.

What's the fuss? It only costs whatever in paper, ink and labor to print the money.
