Why did they fight?

    The opening of the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776, states as follows:
    “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.


    The Declaration carries no legal status.
    Also "all men are created equal"is just a nice phrase. All men are NOT created equal.

    Obviously, as some have already pointed out, the South was invaded by the North, thus the South were not only defending their families and their land from the Northern aggression, but were also defending our US Constitution that Lincoln trampled on.

    The real question should be how did the North get their citizens to pick up arms against their brethren in the South? I think the Northern (whites) were uneducated about the facts and led to believe it was all about the "slaves"...kinda like we were led to believe it was all about WMD in Iraq...

    Listen---------ummmmmmmm-------the way I figure--------if you pass through the great states of Louisiana and Texas--------you'll see those massive oil rigs and those little goose necked pumps busy pumpin' oil up from a mile deep or more---------lets start with denyin' the NORTH-----their equal share of that black gold-----keep our Texas and Louisiana "Tea" at home!!!!!!!!!!!!

    And thats just for starters!!!!

    Yosemite Sam would say

    "They won't get away with that!!!!!!!!!!"
