I'm not disingenuous. We might disagree but I don't appreciate your rude comment. Forum discussions require a level of maturity.

I was actually questioning the sincerity of your source. I make it a point not to personalise post. I apologise that my post could be perceived as a personal comment. I guess I should have been more clear.

I did not see a personal comment, only quotes from the source.

Can you post some sources that indicate those who supported Palin saw her as an appeal to a bloc vote. My comment was about people I know that support her. There are always people on both sides that follow ideology and do not think things through. People I have talked with have always given clear and concise reasons fro support of her. And of late those on the left side of politics seem to be almost drunk with their ideology.

I am sure that if I took the time to do so I could also find blogs that claim that Gov. Palin was chosen to appeal to the 'women's' vote. I read several of those on 2008, and I agree that it was at least part of the reason.

I contend that neither the left or right have a monopoly on political games. The source in the OP seemed to indicate that only the left would pull a stunt like this whereas I contend that both sides are equally guilty. The right are not necessarily 'right' just because they are on the right.

I have no problem with the GOP's choice - it seemed like a good one for a while. But I have no doubt that it was politically motivated. That is the norm for VP choices.

FWIW, Palin's lies are numerous and well documented. Google "Palin lies" and start reading if you are interested.

Not to mention the ethical problems that dogged her governorship.

I really don't like homework assignments, and her "ethical problems" PALE to team zero's actual corruption.

Just because one can google a term does not provide evidence of claims made by those who were looking for a reason to bash her.

You asked for sources in this post. I was too lazy to do the work so someone else did it for me.

Both parties see women as a bloc vote. If that means they see women as ignorant than both sides are guilty.

I was talking about sources that show the McCain team said they chose her for that reason.

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that was a requirement since the left never said that they see women as a bloc either. The blog was from the right expressing their opinion of the left.

Both sides play the gender game.

    About either side, I guess.

It is obvious from any study of election history that the parties, rightly or wrongly, appeal to a bloc vote. The choice of Gov Palin appeared to be a brilliant decision. If they had primed her and prepared her better it might have worked.

I contend that the author of he OP was mistaken at best when he accused liberals of seeing women as 'stupid' because they try to appeal to women as a voting bloc.

That's just politics has it has always been practiced.

You are correct. These are opinions and my opinion is just as valid as the opinion of the blogger in your OP.

In the UK, I don't think any political party views women as stupid. There may be some obscure party that does view women that way, but certainly the mainstream ones (Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat and the like) don't.

Neither major party in America does either David. The author of the blog in the OP was having a go at the Democrats. Politics as usual.

As I said, the lies are well documented. And this isn't bashing Palin - at least no more so than most any other politician.

Bloc voting - If the Presidential candidate is:
    Then the Veep will be:

    Young / old
    Extreme / moderate
    Protestant / Catholic or Jewish
    From the North / South
    From the East / West
    Pro-abortion / Pro-Life
    No military / military experience
    Ect
    Ect
    Ect...

I am not saying that every Veep is the total opposite of his "boss" but you often will see that a candidate is chosen partly on the different blocs he can help bring to the ticket

Note a perfect example was Clinton / Gore
Both Southern Baptist - Both from adjoining States (well okay Clinton had personality - and Gore - well you know!)
