"They made their hearts as hard as rock and would not listen to the teachings of the Lord All-Powerful. And they would not hear the words he sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the Lord All-Powerful became very angry."

    Two questions:
    1. Why does it teach that they made their hearts hard and thus unwilling to listen, if in actuality they were born unable to listen and understand due to their fallen totally hardened nature from birth?

    2. Why does God express anger at them for this when it was His sovereign choice for them to be born totally disabled in this 'spiritually dead' condition, while withholding the very awakening they needed to do what he asks them to do?

If we were to list all the evidence that fallen man can seek God and trust in Christ, the list would be long. The evidence is before all who read scripture. How many places can we find where by the practice of sin folks harden their hearts and lose the ability to receive God's word.

How many places in God's word, do we see God desiring godly behavior and expressing displeasure with less than godly behavior? The list would be long indeed.
