There are no signs yet that Cruz is either arrogant or smug. He may be, but you're way out front on that one. Just trying to reinforce your reasons, I suspect.

But mostly it sounds like what you're looking for is a republican that is barely to the right of Obama. You don't have to look far. They're everywhere.

 

At the risk of hijacking this tread, I think a lot of people said (I know I did and still believe that he is not "American" in the sense of knowing how most Americans think and feel about issues) the same thing about Obama being too far outside the mainstream America thinking to be president, so how exactly is Cruz any different?

 

Are you saying the things he "stopped" or "blocked" shouldn't have been stopped or blocked?

His Canadian birth will be an issue too large to conquer. Were it only the Dems pointing his Canadianness out, that would be one thing. That Republicans are doing so indicates that he has more that the opposition party faithful to win over.

 

I agree his Canadian birth is a problem, as I stated in another tread. I don't think he is going to get the nomination so this is all just speculation. I just want to know how someone that supports Obama can say with a straight face that Curz is to "unamerican" to run.

You lost me on this point. Barry Goldwater was not born in the USA but I don't remember it being an issue in 1964 since Goldwater was born of American parents in the Arizona Territory. McCain was born in Panama, as we all know, so I don't think that legally this is an issue at all. Cruz was born an American citizen legally.

Here is what the US constitution says:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

My own opinion is that Scott Walker will win the nomination. As someone from Wisconsin, I have mixed feelings about it. He has done enough good for this state that I would hate to see him leave.

Oh, I used to work around a lot of lawyers in downtown Indianapolis and I know what you are asking as I heard hours of talk on that subject so I think that you should define what the Constitution means by that term, not me. :type:
