I think a big part of Dr. Caner's problem is due to pride.

Caner is a fake tongues speaker -- a non-Charismatic Charismatic.

MoKhan has nailed it well about Caner's gibberish routines. And again, that's lying. He can't help himself -- only God can.

This whole thing reminds me of the Mike Warnke scandal. You may remember him as the "Christian Comedian" who falsely claimed to have been a Satanic High Priest.

He was exposed as a fraud too. Yet the Christians were fooled because they liked what he said and never questioned anything he said. The same thing has happened in many circles.

Religion has always been, and continues to be a great way to make money.

Even in conservative evangelical circles, you can really advance yourself with an embellished resume.

Some make great fame and fortune with false doctrine.

How many remember the infamous John Todd of the late 1970's?

He sounds like a real piece of work. I think the guy has mental disorders. I question his salvation.

As a note, if this Arabic speaking (or more accurately misspeaking) is found to be true it is highly indiciting. As an alumnus of LU I would suggest, or write in a letter, that Dr Caner will need to respectfully resign.

If this Arabic speaking business is true (in that he isn't speaking Arabic but making it up) he has lied publicly and from a position of spiritual authority. He would need to step down if thus found out to be true.

I have read where LU on May 10, 2010, formed a committee to investigate the allegations made against Caner. They also said it would not be before the end of June before the investigation is complete.

I would suggest that we let LU do it's job. No matter what anyone on this board thinks it is not very Christian to continue to call names, and make innuendos that we have no proof of, other than what someone else says.

To continue this attack in the manner it has taken would be gossip. It also would not do anything to edify God.

May I suggest, that we pray for Ergun Caner and LU at this time. Pray for God's guidance for the committee and that whatever is done is done in God's Will.

I have my doubts that it will actually do its job. It's not a legal decision anyway. The overwhelming eviodence has been in for some time now and it's quite a mountain.

So liars are not to be called liars for instance? Would the Apostle Paul mince words and say "Caner just embellished a bit -- no big deal"?

You obvously have not followed the story. There are innuendos. caner himself has said the things he has said. No one has to claim that Caner said this or that. The documentation is all over the place from his many youtube spots, his written word and interviews.

To continue to tell the truth about an unrepentant liar is gossip?! Since when is telling the truth about a prominent Christian beyond the bounds of appropriate conduct.

God isn't a subject of edification -- Christians are.

I have been daily since Rhet had posted his thoughts on the matter a number of days ago.

Certainly. And I realize that it may be God's will for Caner to be given a mere slap on the wrist -- if that. Yet that will not end the controversy.

I agree with you. I believe the Arabic tutor of James White. This is bold-faced lying that is completely inexcusable. This alone not to mention his serial lying in a host of other contexts is enough for him to quite teaching in a Christian venue -- Seminary,University or Church. He needs a factory job for his own good.

I don't question his salvation -- I do question his sanctification though. You have gone too far from that which is warranted TS.
