    ????

Yes, anyone with a passport could have gone.

What we needed was someone OFFICIALLY representing the United States of America. Whether that be President Obama or someone appointed by him to stand in his stead.

Rick Perry represents Texas. So does Ted Cruz. Marco Rubio represents Florida. The person going to Paris should have been someone whose constituents are every single person living in the United States.

If Perry and company had gone, it would have been of their own volition and it would have looked like they were trying to override the president and worst of all it would have appeared to be a photo op merely to gain support for a 2016 bid for president themselves.

It would have been a disaster.

What was needed was a very high ranking, world recognizable figure appointed by the president to represent both him and the entire United States.

It should have been the vice-president.

Has the White House said why Obama did not go or what he was doing that prevented him from attending? Saw a clip of a press conference this morning, and the Press Secretary was evasive when asked.

Excellent point sister, besides had any of these potential POTUS candidates gone the left would be criticizing them for "grandstanding!"

You mean like you guys accused the President of doing with the Trayvon Martin case or for sending Holder to Ferguson?

Why don't yall just admit that you just don't like the man's politics and that nothing he does will ever meet your approval because he's not a Republican?

If he had gone , the same people would be saying " he looked weak next to all the others there" or "he was just an embarrassment", etc, etc. Or that he was grandstanding and really served no purpose there.

I can understand why Obama did not go. Security on such short notice would have been a huge problem.

Not sending high level representatives is unforgivable, but true to form for a president that has never had a clue about foreign policy.

    "He's in campaign mode."
"Never met a photo op he didn't like."
"Didn't wear a flag lapel pin."

So how much notice must a World Leader give prior to his death, so he can be assured an American representative is able to attend a State funeral?

Agree with you, Carp----that security on short notice would be a problem-----I recall reading WW2 history----story goes that after the initial invasion by Allied forces on June 6 and the invasion progression---that:

Major General Omar Bradley had a "hankering" to visit the front---he had been aboard one of the command ships observing the progression of the combat units

After much deliberation between he and Commanding General Eisenhower----Bradley boarded a landing craft(no doubt with a heavily armed escort) and made his way to the beach

After the General had landed---he may his way to a command post----and one of his escort guards advised him

General----we are 5 miles from the front----even at this distance--we believe its much too dangerous----HERE where we are---and we advise that we progress no farther in!!!!

    Exactly.

We would be bombarded with FOX News analysts getting its viewers heated because Obama was giving Netanyahu the cold shoulder.

And why does everything that gets talked about on Fox News become a topic on here? They grab hold of one topic and try to blow it up and then it becomes the focal point of every political conservative in the country.

Does this take our attention away from Social Security getting cut for all those folks with disabilities?

Then start a thread about this - with some facts to back up your statement.

Not surprised. But 3 days planning for a presidential trip abroad and participating in a street march seems to me to present an impossible security scenario.

The last thing I want to see is this worthless excuse for a president become a martyr.

The White House ought to just say that then, instead of avoiding answering the question "why?".

I am not buying it. Three days is ample time. I suspect that he just did not feel like attending.

Considering the march was to show solidarity against islamic terrorism, you may be right.

He sure found ferguson important but not Paris. He has no problem drumming up talk about the evils of Americans who work for the police in this country but he cant seem to muster up the energy to call radical Islam evil or terrorism.
