So the writer of the article thinks the reason nothing got done in DC was because of the Tea Party highjacking the GOP? That's been the going claim since the Tea Party came on the scene. It ignores the fact the even with a Dem majority in congress Obama was not able to get much done without subverting the Constitution by abusing executive orders and installing tsar after tsar.

Obama does not care about being a "cooperative adversary" and that is why the dem's will lose today.

So you and this author think that it is the Republicans that are not "mainstream"?

Same mindset that gets the political opinions from Jon Stewart.

A mainstream Republican in the eyes of a democrat is a RINO. They were called "me too" Republicans before the Reagan era.

A bipartisan Republican is a RINO, one who caves to the democrat/leftist ideology!

A partisan Republican is one who won't cave to the democrat/leftist ideology!

All democrats/leftists are by definition "bipartisan"!

PARTISAN democrats/leftists are either killed at birth or spontaneously aborted by mother nature; they simply do not exist!

All "tea party people" are bigots, racists, homophobes, misogynists, and some perhaps are of all things, "horrors", perhaps Christians.

The issue is the Republican Party has shifted further and further to the Right over the years and they've become out of touch with mainstream America. They don't want to co-operate and work with others to try to come to constructive solutions. Witness the way they filibustered President Obama's appointees to the NLRB. They basically said they will not confirm anyone, no matter how qualified they are.

No, you and the author seem to think that mainstream is left. By moving right the Republicans move towards the center and that is where most people are at.

Obama is a narcissist and a bully and the media has been his lap dog.

That is the big lie spread by the Marxist wing of the democrat party which sadly includes essentially all the democrats in the FEDERAL government.

The truth is that the democrat party bears absolutely no relation to the principles of the original democrat party.

1..They started the move toward the left under Wilson.

    2. It accelerated under Roosevelt who was not one to let a depression go to waste.

    3. The party stepped on the slippery slope with the "great society" of LBJ who parroted, after the unfortunate visit of Kennedy to Texas, "lets do this one for Jackie".

    4. The party took the plunge to socialism with the election of Obama.

    5. The next step is dictatorial socialism which will occur if Obama is elected again with the help of people like Paul! Obama has already demonstrated dictatorial tendencies with his narcissistic personality, his propensity to ignore Federal law, and his dislike of us common folk!

OR, I wish he had a socialist agenda- or at least a social democratic one. The concept that President Obama is a socialist has no basis in fact and is a right-wing lie as part of the neo-McCathyist agenda.

BTW, where in South Carolina do you live? I'm from Florida, but I lived for about five years in SC. I lived in Chesterfield County, near the NC border.

No it is not a lie. Obama has pushed for income redistribution. Even Joe the Plumber knew Obama was a socialists in 2008. Obama's mentors were all communists. The democrat party is a socialist party.

If you are a socialist then confess so there will be no confusion where you are coming from in your posts.

I would remind you that socialism, fascism, nazism, and communism are all facets of Marxism.

The last thing the Republican Party needs is more RINO mainstream Republicans. The two senators from my state are a stark example in the difference. Senator Mitch McConnell is a "mainstream" Republican. He is a big government spender who supported the Bush bailout, but voted against the Obama bailout. He is driven by the next election, and not serving the people. On the other hand, our other Senator, Rand Paul, is a true conservative that is guided by conservative principles, not political power. Senator McConnell did everything he could to defeat Rand Paul in the Republican primary before the general election. We have had mainstream Republican nominees since 1988. This is exactly what we do not need for 2016.

    A true Republican

    1. Believes in serving the people

    2. Is guided by morals and principles and not the next election

    3. Believes the United States should be governed by the Constitution

    4. Believes in true conservative values

    5. Gives more than lip service to the pro life and pro marriage agenda

    6. Really believes in a balances budget

    7. Believes in minimal government involvement in citizen's lives

If they were out of touch with mainsteam America, the polls would not be as close as they have been for the last several months.

Well said S/N! I hope the Republicans in the Senate will dump McConnell whether they take control or not!

The Progressive Wing of the Democratic Party is Socialist. The Socialists used to proudly proclaim this and even had the Congressional members listed on their web site until a few years ago when some conservatives found it and it was broadcast on the Internet. Then the Socialists took it down. If you care to research it, go to the Wayback Machine and you can find it. I used to have the link to it several computers ago.

Socialists have worked long and hard to get a Socialist into the Presidency. They succeeded in 2008. Hopefully, the reign of terror to our Constitutional Republic will be over soon.

Frank Davis was Obama's childhood mentor. Frank Davis was a communist. Look it up.

Both parties have shifted towards the far end of each spectrum. However, I believe the Dems have shifted the most. I believe that if JFK was alive and in his 40's nowadays he would NOT be a Democrat. However, if Nixon was alive and in his 40's he'd be a Republican.
