Right, because private insurance companies will insure the oldest and most expensive to cover. But that will be okay because most people have large amounts of money to pay for medical procedures. I know you think that prices will drop if you get rid of Medicare. That won't happen, but even if it did, then most people wouldn't be able to afford healthcare needs.

Ummm.... I believe in individual liberties and limited government; I just draw the limit at another place than you. BTW, Democrats have a much better record on individual liberties than the connies. But your "you want the government to run everything and take away our rights" nonsense is duly noted.

What do you vote? Libertarian, Constitution Party, etc?

You need to research the history of the democrats.

    They backed the slave owners...

... and then later fought to prevent the descendents of those slaves from obtaining their civil rights...

... and later put many of their descendents back onto the government plantation with the force of the welfare state.

A white "connie" that is racist will tell you to your face.

A white liberal is much more devious and dangerous and just as racist but far more hateful because them pretend to be caring while they exploit others for their own power and feelings of self righteousness.

Who said anything about insurance companies?

Actually, they won't need "huge amounts of money" because costs would be only a small fraction of what they are now.

It would take more than getting rid of Medicare.

However, history has shown us that where free markets are allowed to work, price goes down and availability goes up.

Then why are you suggesting subjecting people to socialized helathcare?

LOL...Right. You just go on telling yourself that.

And, since I never said that, your inability to read is duly noted.

I don't vote for parties. I vote for the best man for the job, be he a Republican, Libertarian, Constitutionalist, etc.

I should have said progressives were better on civil liberties than connies; I'll give you that much. Keep in mind that at one time the Republicans were the liberal party, but things got re-aligned.

Also, I wasn't aware that a Medicare buy-in would give me more power and feelings of self-righteousness. How does that work?

    What exactly is your plan?

I don't; I want to increase competition. If you knew what socialized healthcare is, you would know that that's not what I'm proposing. I want to give people a chance to pay premiums and buy in to Medicare.

Actually, I know exactly what socialized healthcare is. That's why I recognize that Medicare is a form of socialized healthcare insurance.

I've got to know: how on Earth did you ever come to believe that the progressives believe in civil liberties?

Actually, I know exactly what socialized healthcare is. That's why I recognize that Medicare is a form of socialized healthcare insurance.

No. It's a reaction to Rev. Mitchell's term "libbie", but I'm sure it's okay when a connie does it, ain't it, tractor boy?

    George W. Bush

No, Medicare is single payer but not socialized because the doctors and hospitals are private. The VA hospitals and the British National Health Service are examples of socialized medicine because the government owns the hospitals and employs the doctors.

    That's a lie.

You are a proponent of a single payer healthcare plan , which violates both principles.

If made universal, Medicare would socialize all deliveries of medical care except for the elite and wealthy who could afford personal physicians or travel for medical care elsewhere.

BTW......... When I reported my doctor charging me $136 on what is normally a $220 charge because I have no insurance and am cash pay.... and he will discount based upon what Medicare would recognize..... He doesn't accept Medicare. If I had Medicare... regardless of meeting any deductible or what they might pay..... that specialist doctor would not have seen me or I would still have to pay $136 for my visit.

In such cases as this, buying Medicare would just be more money out of my pocket because the doctor doesn't accept Medicare. Because Medicare comes with a bunch of tedious and constantly changing rules and regulations, more and more doctors are refusing to treat patients under its program.... or refusing to accept Medicare coverage for payment of their services. And the reason why is because Medicare is the governments license to open the doctors's records and examine them for mistakes or errors in filing....... and has been used against some medical practices as a means of repeated harassment even when no justification has been found.

Not long ago I posted such an example where in the course of one year a doctor's office practice was interrupted at least 4 or more times (I don't remember exactly.... seems like it was more like 5or 6..... but I'm sure it was at least 4) by federal investigators in a van removing records and charts from that doctor's office to examine them for fraud and errors. They found none. Such gets to be intrusive and expensive and is the more punishing when one considers that what Medicare usually allows is a fraction of what the doctor would charge to a reasonably funded or insured patient. In addition, doctor's offices are having to hire more clerical personnel just to keep up with the paperwork and hire specialist to stay current with the changing regulations.

Paul, you will never know the times..... but it used to be than many general practice physicians had an office with a small waiting room, just a few equiped operatories for patient exams, a small lab for blood and tissue samples and minimal major equipment such as an eletrocardiograph and an x-ray machine, and were staffed with a nurse to accompany the doctor and administer shots, and a receptionist to file the charts, answer the phone, greet the patients and keep track of appointments. The same doctor might have certain days scheduled in the month where he made rounds to those who were elderly and living in their own homes or with family members, who had limited mobility or transportation. The reasonable charge was in the range of a modest day's wage. .....or reduced for the very poor. Insurance and federal regulations and liability insurance have had a drastic impact on health care expenses. The excess is not going into every doctor's pocket like most would believe.... but is going into additional staffing and added related cost of overhead and mal-practis insurance.
