The United States of America is unique in the history of the world. We are not more unique, we are not very unique, we are not the most unique, unique means being without like or equal and this country is just that!

The founding principle of this country is that we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Yes I know that these words were written at a time when slavery existed in this country. I also know of no record in history where a bloody civil war was fought within one race to free a people from another race.

So this country is unique. Because of the grit, the courage, the determination of the people this country became the greatest world power in history and by and large that power was used for good.

What else was there about this country, other than its people, that contributed to its unique position in history? I believe that in large part it was two things; the absense of a class system that was inherent on other countries and the economic system called “free enterprise”.

WHY! WHY is it that the democrat party is determined to destroy this free enterprise system, this Republic. WHY is it they want to convert it to a European style socialist state or worse. WHY is it that they deny the most precious right one has, the right to life, the right of ~4,000 unborn children each day.

I received the following in an email today. I believe it speaks to the problems this country faces because of the democrat party.

    1) easy way to get votes
    2) we have lost our work ethic
    3) why should some suffer when income redistribution will help ( note: we dont even like to say the word "tax" anymore)

    1) we are selfish
    2) we have dehumanize life

Hmmmmm- the War Between the States was fought over States Rights -not slavery. In fact, look what ole Honest Abe had to say.....

......And then people wonder why there are so fewer people in today's workforce who are forced to pay into the Feds to support the Social Security incomes of those who were all for abortion when it first was a hot-button for issue for the womens' libber Democrats way back in the 1970's?

    H-mmm. :tear::tear:

Actually some would say it occurred because the South lost control of the Congress. I suspect that may be the real reason that the slave states wanted to secede. I do believe that these states did have the right to withdraw from the union and still do. [I recall just recently that the US was championing the right of secession of some states in the former Yugoslavia.] The problem was that these crazy people in SC got impatient and fired on the Yankees down in Charleston. I believe it is best that the South lost. If they had been successful I doubt they would have stayed together.

All that being said slavery was the emotional issue used to motivate the Yankees. And it is a fact that there was civil war within one race to free people of another race. It is also a fact that most Southerners were not slave owners, "only the filthy rich democrats"!:BangHead:

The first time a black man was deemed by a court in the US as "property" was in a suit bright to a Virginia Court brought by a black man who owned another black man.

And I believe that it is Biblically incorrect to lay the problems of this country down at the foot of a political party. And your comment speaks to Christians not having a clue as to what the real problem is.

We want to blame a party when Scripture makes clear that it is Christian wickedness that has us in the place that we are.

And when you've got Christians politicizing what is a spiritual problem, is there no wonder why the country is where it is? [IMG]

It is wonderful that we live in a country where people are STILL free to express their opinions.

Your problem Zaac is you apparently think this country is a theocracy, a modern day Israel. It is not.

    Sure is.

And your problem, OR, seems to be that you think that politics can fix a spiritual problem. But that's just my opinion.

The country doesn't have to operate as a theocracy for God's people to operate as though He is still on His throne.

Perhaps part of the wickedness of His people is our ability to think that just because the country isn't a theocracy that Christians shouldn't deal with what ails the country in a spiritual manner?

Perhaps part of the Christian wickedness from which we need to turn from is our notion that the answer to this country's wickedness is the wickedness of another wicked man.

Your self righteous and judgmental attitude far exceeds that of Biblical Pharisees. But that is just my opinion!

I'm just trying to rival the self-righteous and judgmental attitude that allowed you to make that statement. But that's just my opinion.

I do not want this nation to be anything like Europe, either economically or class wise. For the life of me, I cannot understand why Americans are so fascinated by British Royalty, a totally useless entity, except they cost British citizens lots of money.

There has got to be a way to reform the medical industry that allows all Americans coverage at a reasonable cost driven by the free market, not government bureaucrats. Yes, insurance companies, hospital corporations, and other medical businesses must be held accountable for charging a fair price for a service, but how can politicians who are thieves themselves monitor anything?
