I don't think anyone here will dispute that. I would be very interested in seeing a report where a Baptist minister committed a crime such as this, and after the church found out, the man wasn't fired, but instead, shuffled off to another Church to molest again. Please post a link that shows this. It was the cover up that got the Catholic Church in so much trouble.

    Joe,
just use google. But without having to put too much thought into it - President Clinton - he was a Baptist - a young woman trainee involved - The president was not expelled from his local Baptist church - there was a cover up and lying was involved.

Anyway look it at this way - Bin Laden, while he lived in London, he was an Arsenal soccer fan. Does this mean some North Londoners should stop supporting Arsenal? Of course not.

    God Bless

I didn't realize that Monica Lewinski made allegations of sexual assault, rape, or child molestation. Nice try at taking us off the issues and blaming others for your churches own shortcomings, but perhaps instead of doing that, your church ought to aknowledge that they are responsible for themselves and their own actions and lack of action. But, they couldn't possibly do that, for that would acknowledge that they are errant and corrupt as in their decision making as high up as the Pope himself who has, honestly, enabled this foolishness to go onfar too long.

I would have to agree with you about not putting too much thought into it... [IMG]

    From the article:

"I am profoundly grateful to the Holy Father for having accepted my resignation as archbishop of Boston," Law said in a written statement released by the Vatican.

I didnt know that God accepted Law's resignation. Was anyone else aware of this?

It does seem like the Baptists here are trying to treat this situation with a somber attitude, and really trying to get thru this, so Netcurtians, I cannot fathom why you would make such an asenine comment. Are you trying to stoke up the fire a bit ?

Why don't you join us in a prayer for the victims, and their families, and leave the jokes for another time.

There is a difference of beliefs involved. He believes one thing, you believe another. It's only natural to take those kinds of shots at each other. It happens all the time here, from both ends.

But making light of sodomized children is hateful.

Where is your voice. LaRea ? How do you feel about the situation ?

What it the Roman Catholic Churchs' Biggest concern? MONEY!

Attorney Mitchell Garabedian, who represents dozens of victims of clergy sexual abuse, called on other leaders of the church who have also been negligent to resign.

"This is a step in the right direction for some victims but unfortunately too little to late for others,"

He also questioned the timing of the cardinal's departure.

"Is it because the church is being hit economically in is pocket book? Or because it's time for the church to cleanse itself?"

Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. Heb 12:16

I see, so it's ok to "take shots" during this time? I guess you don't mind your thread (which started out with alot of charity) being hijacked.

I don't think anyone is making light of sodomized children. I also don't think that sexual abuse is exclusive to the RCC, nor coverup etc etc

I do think that alot of Catholics are real tired of non-Catholics pointing fingers, making snide comments, when they (the non-Catholics) have the same types of problems within their own ranks.

As far as what I think.....any person who is proven to be guilty of sexual abuse should be in the legal system. If allegations are made, and then reason found to think they are accurate, then it should be turned over to the authorities.

Back years ago everyone had different ideas about molestation, so to some degree it is plausible that instead of prosecution there would of been counseling etc in SOME cases. They thought they could re-hab sexual offenders.

We now know (in the past 15 years or so) that for most all cases are NOT going to work in rehab programs.

I am hopeful that the Church is going to be viligant in the future about accusations made and also more carefully screen seminarians.

Larea, show me a baptist preacher who's a pedophile and I will personally drive to your house, pick you up, and we can both go demand his arrest.

This is not a Catholic, Baptist thing.

But you are right, I didn't start this thread. I started another one which has only had two responses. I think both of us have had our threads crossed.

    Mike....

My studies have led me to the belief that the RCC will end up as the "one world church" in the end times. It can't be now, because there are still christians in it. That is what I, and many others mind you, believe.

Of course, I work next to an Army Air Base, and see those helos all the time.

But I really don't think it's fair to say that people who come up with the same conclusion I have are lacking in intelligence. Or paranoid, or anything like that. You may not agree with us, but the comment kinda hurts.

    I had to say it.

Please forgive me for going off-topic for a bit.

I do apologize, I did get the threads confused!

However I am glad that you agree it is not a "Catholic/Baptist" thing. It's a man is sinful thing. Satan knows where to get us. Still we are responsible for our actions and must give an accounting for them, no one escapes justice, not ever.

Don't you find it very interesting that the media says little to nothing about clergy of other faiths who are involved in this sort of thing? I personally know of more than one going on in our region, the media gave it a quick blurb on the TV then went back to the RCC.

    Thank you, LaRea.

There can really be no friendly dialogue for a lengthy period of time, due to the faiths being so different. We are both 100% convinced our church is right. We butt heads, get angry, call each other awful names, and go to bed mad. We will never resolve the catholic/baptist thing here.

But this is so different. Anybody with kids has to have their guts wrenching, and my eyes have had tears all day. I'm not with the majority here. No matter how the incident started, it was a pedophile at fault. Not the Church, not the Pope, not the Bishop, but the individual. Now after the fact, yes I think it could have been handled a lot better. But it started with a person in direct disobediance to God's word.

I don't agree with all my Baptist brothers here. I don't think this is an appropriate time to point fingers, or bash the RCC. It is a time for prayer. For the victims, and their families.

    As would I.

Someday I would love to converse with you about the end-times, but I don't think we should do it now.

Now you are going to make me cry! It is so good to hear a non-Catholic say they understand that at the core of it (and yes I think it's been mishandled by the hirearchy) is a man who is breaking his vow to God, and to his religious community, and his fellow Christians.

We are ALL part of the body of Christ (in my opinion) and when one of us sins, it hurts all of us, regardless of religious denomination.

I know you "guys" go at it quite a bit, I am on other forums and I have "chastized" Catholics (and non-Catholics) who have name called etc....it's one of the things about online discussions that I really have a hard time with, because I feel that if a person who is just seeking Christ stumbles across one of the 'debates' it will make them run screaming from the room!

Joseph Botwinick[/QB]</font>[/QUOTE]Does anyone else have any information to add on this issue dealing with Baptist Ministers who committed child molestation, were caught, and then had their crimes covered up and were moved to another church to commit the crime again? Obviously, the Clinton reference fail very short of even comparing to what happened in the Catholic Church.
