You should read all my remarks before going off on a tirade. My initial post:

The remarks about letting them hash it out were made in response to Sapper Woody's concern about sending in ground troops which I also oppose. But limited air strikes are useless and Obamma hash;t confronted anything!

 

With all due respect. Shock and awe is not what is needed here. I'm not interested in carpet bombing a country we have spent a decade trying to rebuild. I'm not interested in letting them show the world all of the collateral damage with regards to dead children and other civilians. The air strikes condcuted since Sunday have focused on some of the heavy equipment that was acquired through the defeat of the Syrian 17th division and the fringe Iraqi Army units that were overrun. The air strikes will remain focused on hard targets and determent of IS convoys advancing further south towards Baghdad. I suspect that after this weekend they won't be willing to drive single file from town to town like they have brazenly been doing. That is what is commonly referred to as a beautiful "target of opportunity." We are essentially attemting to level the playing field to give the Kurds a chance in the pitched battles they have struggled with.

 

if it comes to war, I agreee, use all FORCE necessary, rewrite current ROE for our troops, untie their hands, and make it known that we intend to KILL, not rehabilitate, not reconcile, not capture and treat well.
Because if it comes to war, the enemy will pour in from all over: Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan, Philippines, Indonesia, even the USA and even Egypt.
If it comes to war, our troops must know that we value the blood, lives, and limbs of our own and will not send them in and out for political expediency, otherwise: NO WAR.

 

The Philippines? Indonesia? Slow down buddy. It seems like you are just rattling off all of the "brown skinned folk" you can think of but maybe try to reel it in a little bit. The ROE is fine as it stands right now anyway.

They want training, they want their young recruits to have "experience", and they will not be in want of moneyed 'sponsors' to finance their trip to where they can get that 'experience'.

If it comes to war I really don't think we would have to worry about swarms of militants coming out of the phillipines. I know that the IS is projecting themselves to be this rapidly growing force and no doubt they are going to have strong financial backing but you have to realize that most of their members are simply joining them because they would rather not be against them. They are well organized but often unchallenged in combat. I suspect that weakening their ability through use of airstrikes and prohibiting their ease of movement will let the Kurds give them a few bloody noses. We might find that when the wind changes direction most of these IS soldiers are going to scatter to the four winds to return to the normal life they had.

There is a Vice news mini-series on youtube called the "The Islamic State." Some remarkable reporters were able to spend some time with IS leaders and interview the people under their control. I was not convinced at all by the people claiming to "love" life under the strictly enforced caliphate. They control through terror and that is not a sustainable plan or an effective way to control an army.

No one said anything about carpet bombing but two airstrikes each day are worse than useless. The terrorists will simply assume we are a "wuss" or that they have a friend in the White house!

No, but do you even know what it is and why it is such a serious threat? Here is a hint. It is so ancient and radical that even most Muslims are scared of it. Being educated about something doesn't translate into an endorsement. Would it kill you to maybe read up on something before you post about it?

This may shock you but I have never voted for Obama.

As far as the airstrikes. We saw targets and we shot targets. Estimated 46-50 killed. It has only been three days into a several month long commitment to maintain these airstrikes. What do you suggest?

Believe me, if you're going to try and make sense around here, you're going to get remarks like that from both sides.:laugh:

 

It all comes down to ego. You know that I am willing to take it on the chin when I'm wrong. You helped me with that yesterday actually. But what am I supposed to do with the stuff above? There are a few on here that are willing to contribute but it is obnoxious to come in here and call me a member of the caliphate like Oldregular which I doubt he would have done had he been standing in front of me. It is somewhat appalling that that sort of behavior is tolerated here. I would have been coming close to being banned in the other forums I frequent if I would have said something like that.

 

I got told by a preacher here to catch a flight to another country.

I get told I support abortion.

I get told I hate the poor, and minorities, and don't care if my wife dies.

I get told I must smoke pot because I think the drug laws are crazy.

You have a smart mouth and you also you really need to take a course in reading comprehension! No one called you a member of the Caliphate. However most people are still referring to ISIS not the Islamic State which ISIS coined.

 

This is your comment. You can tap dance around it all you like but this post served zero purpose other than to be inflammatory. At no point did I even come close to "buying" in to the IS. Educating yourself with regards to the enemy is not "buy in." You knew what you were doing here.

 

Given your response it is obvious you need a course in reading comprehension. I did not ask for permission to do anything and I did not post assumptions but opinion. However, your post to which I responded presented an attitude of superior knowledge which I thought could only come from an advisor to Obamma.
