Will you help Benny Hinn travel in style?

He has purchased a Gulfstream G4SP airplane and wants YOU to help pay for it! That's right for a gift of $1,000 dollars you can help pay for his fancy plane and, in return, you will get a model of the plan to put on your desk and a nameplate on the plane itself. Not only that God is sure to make you rich for helping Benny travel in style aboard his new "Dove One".

This guy has no shame! The really, really sad part is that there will be alot of people who will send this clown $1000. I wonder if he will give back the money that is not needed? Somehow I doubt it.

I believe the original post is what is called sarcasm.

If I had $1,000 I could find a much better use for it than reimbursing Benny Hinn for the cost of his airplane, not that I would in turn ever get to see it much less fly in it.

Sadly there are Baptists out there who watch this guy (and some probably send him money). These type of abuses, by Hinn, should be made very public. Yes most of us are familiar with his stunts but there maybe some out there who are not. Don't think of this as a free advert for Benny, think of it as trying to shine the light on the things he is trying to get away with.

It would be better to use the money to expose him!

At our previous church (Baptist SBC) there were (are) people there who actually like Benny Hinn. One Sunday I overheard a lady sitting in front of me showing her friend her new Benny Hinn study Bible. There was also a Benny Hinn book in our library. This is part of why we attend a different church now.

    Hmm.

Seems like God would at least double his money if he made a seed-faith gift to somebody else--say, Leroy Jenkins or somebody of that caliber. Then he could donate that doubled money again and have it doubled again, etc. After about seventeen seed-faith gifts, that stuff'd be multiplying like zucchini and he'd have his six million.

Think of all the ministry money he'd save on postage by not hitting on elderly suckers of lower socioeconomic demographics via the U.S.Mail.

I remember the days when Jerry Falwell went around the country in a private jet.

In truth, private planes are the way to go. Many reputable people do it. I knew a college president who made a speech at a secular/patriotic event and only required that the honorarium be equivalent to what a commercial plane ticket would have cost; he came in the school's private jet. Apparently it pays for itself.

And, so far as Hinn's technique goes, I remember donating to a Christian college's fund to buy a fancy bus for some team or other to travel in. They say I got my name on a plaque that hung in the bus. I also got a key ring. Still have it, in fact.

Hinn, however, says that when your name goes in his plane, it will be where he prays and writes sermons. He clearly implies that he will be thinking about you and, therefore, you'll get spillover from all that holighost power he sprays around when he swings his jacket. It implies that he'll know your name and pray for God to make you rich and healthy, and the odds of God doing it are easily twelve-to-seven or better.

Those implications, which are ubiquitous among the con men of charismatism, are as false as they are ubiquitous. That's the objectionable part.

==Its not so much the private jet that bothers me. It is (a) his asking his followers to donate $1000 to pay for it (b) his promising God's blessing on those who donate to the cause (c) his past record of, let's say, not being careful about how he spends donations (d) his history of wanting to be treated like a king.

Private jets can offer alot of advantages to high profile people (religious or not). They can make their own flight schedule, avoid delays at airports, and avoid attracting attention on a general plane. Many high profile people will rent planes. I believe, if I am not mistaken, the plane Falwell uses belongs to Liberty University. Liberty owns several plans since it has a flight school and other major universities offer their presidents (etc) private planes (either rented or owned by the school).

Having said that I would like to see religious leaders on regular flights. The private jet thing sends a message of seperation that I don't like. Having said that I am not sure how good an idea it is for people like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell to fly on regular flights. Their presence could cause trouble. Other high profile leaders, such as Charles Stanley and Tim LaHaye, might not cause contraversy but their celebraty status might cause other types of problems. So I guess it is a no win situation.

I have a general beef with Benny Hinn, a anti-Hinn bias. I have zero respect for the man. That certainly colors my view of him buying anything nice.

Expose him and his plane...like Sean Hannity

Got to fly private and not rub elbows with the real people.

Now if he has ever taught a biblical truth and the light switch goes on for me then I would send money.

but I think he has bought into gimmicks and marketing to keep the money flowing.

We may need good government...I said good government ,to intervene to protect us from the likes of Benny Hinn and so many others that use gimmicks. By not teaching the golden nuggets of Gods word that would earn them their pay.

Why is Benny Hinn enabled to do this ...it is because the cookie jar has had a lot of hands going in and out of it and some of those hands that
prostitute the gimmicks just may be baptists as well.

tapes...cd's.....more tapes...books...and more books...confereence on top of conference...rallys....speaking fees....etc...I think we paid Tim Lehaye 10,000 dollars once for a visit of about 15 minutes. Wow! that was before all the left behind gimmickery and marketing..he loved money then and he loves money now. I put lehaye and hinn in the same boat....the bible abused for profit and trickle down help too others .. I see through it ..do others?

==Government must stay out of religious matters. Once we let government through the front door of the church, the church will suffer (history proves this). The church should police itself and not look to big papa government to solve our problems.

==This is a sad fact that has been proven true by the "Left Behind" series. How many prequels have they now done? Children's books? Games? Gadgets? It is clearly a money making venture and that is why they keep putting out more, and more product.

The church should not continue to buy any LaHaye products. However I know this will not happen. Modern evangelicals suffer from, what I call, the herd instinct. It is group think at its worst. Want examples? Purpose Driven Life, Prayer of Jabez, Left Behind, need I say more? Each of these books have serious problems (doctrinal, etc) but if you "dare" to bring these issues to the surface you will be treated like a heretic.

I could also mention that the books are not well written. I have read one or two of LaHaye's other books (non-fiction) and they are much better written then Left Behind. The story line tends to be weak and grows silly at times mainly as the books progress. Personally I could not stomach past Nicolae. I tried reading the first Left Behind book and found it insulting, so I rented the books on tape. I was shocked at how bad the writing (etc) was.

That leads me to a second problem...

Modern evangelicals, today are not concerned about sound Biblical doctrine. Rather they are concerned about "life principles", conservative politics, and being made to feel good about themselves. Truth and sound doctrine mean very little in the modern evangelical world. If it did people like Joel Osteen would not be as widely accepted as they are. Go in your local Christian bookstore and note what books are on display. Books on Bible doctrine? Serious theological commentaries? Historical studies on trends in Church History or biographies? No! What you will find on display are books that promote various forms of the prosperity gospel and that deal mainly with life principles. Any books on display that attempt to deal with doctrine will usually do so only on a very surface popular, feel good level (and it is usually sloppy). If you want to find serious studies you have to go to the back wall (or some other hidden corner of the store). You could also listen to alot of the man/self-centered music being played on "christian" radio stations. All of this says alot about modern evangelicals.

Hasn't this shyster been in jail a couple of times by now? Doesn't he at least have a short rap sheet by now? If so, maybe we can obtain a copy of it and upload it to his Wikipedia profile.
