Couple of things that came to mind this morning:

    1. There are some great websites out there to help with all of this. For instance YouVersion.com has several plans for reading the Bible through on a schedule. One of the benefits is that if you set up an account and go back daily it take you immediately to where you are going.

    2. I think there is a benefit to reading the Bible through in a year, but think that it is best done once every five or ten years. There is something that is missed in following a regular devotional pattern versus trying to get through the whole text in a year. Not to say there isn't benefit in reading it through in a year, I just recommend for most to do it (if you are truly led by the Spirit and not just a check mark thing) and then get into a regular devotional cycle.

    3. Daily devotional reading is different than my in depth Bible study. When read devotionally I am doing a different task with a different purpose. My indepth Bible study is where I add in tons of other resources, commentaries, dictionaries, lexicons, background texts, etc. I read devotionally daily as part of my disciplines, but engage in indepth Bible study only several days a week with some breaks.

I dunno, just some stuff I was thinking about as I waited for a plane...and I'm still waiting for that plane...

I plan on using oneyearbibleonline.com this year. It allows you to choose which transaltion you want t use and then you just choose which day of the month you are on.

I have also saved a copy of the PDF Ann linked to for good measure. ;)

I am reading and studying through Job right now. It is a great book!

A year or two ago I read through the bible using the One Year Chronological Bible in the NLT translation. I enjoyed it. I may do it again next year, or I might read the passages noted in another version.
