I'll ditto that. I am continually discovering that neither the SBC nor the CBF fully represents who I am.

I agree also. But I have just joined my church. I just moved my membership from one church to another. I do not like hopping around.

I will always remain a IFB. I believe God guided me into the faith, church, and denomination He wanted me to be. My dad had been looking for a bible believing church that held on to Christ like values. It was only by God's divine direction I came to that church. I am eternally greatful for Him carrying that much for me. [IMG]

    What would I be if I wasn't a Baptist?

    Answer #1 - I'd be ashamed!
    Answer #2 - I'd be wrong!

Seriously I don't see how a true Baptist could ever be anything else. To join a nondenomenational, Presbyterian, Evangelical Free, or other denomenation is to join a group that differs from Baptists on important doctrines. I can see how a Baptists would leave his particular Baptist church (Go from First Baptist to Second Baptist) or go to a different Baptist fellowship (Leave SBC to go IFB) But I'll never understand how someone could leave the Baptists.

Well, that is a very gung ho attitude. But what if a person is raised in a different Bible believing denomination...and all the things that they have in common are applicable in both denominations? Then should the title Baptist be more important than anything? Or is there something destinctive to being Baptist that no other Christian denomination has thought of? What is the thing that a Baptist is that no other can be?

I really want to know...so please refrain from being glib...thanks.

I will remain a Baptist. If there is someone who calls themselves a Baptist but at the same time, they think it can be done better somewhere else (in theology, doctrine, etc.), then why don't they leave? Surely a person can find a denomination or church that agrees with what that person believes. There are literally endless choices.

As for myself, however, I have been non-denominational, conservative Southern Baptist, Community Christian, Missionary Alliance, Salvation Army, Church of God, Missionary Baptist, and liberal Southern Baptist in allegiance (not necessarily in that order), but I have found my home.

I am an Independent Fundamental Baptist.

Jason, I would really appreciate anything you have to say on a thread in the Baptist Denomination forum...under the title "About your particular Baptist denomination" If you have a minute. With the background you just described...I bet there is allot you could say that might help me to come to a better understanding.

    Thanks.

I wish someone would try to answer my last question though...I really would like to know what people think about that question.
