Hopefully folks are now seeing the true character of these thugs.

One thing about it...next time one of these union goons says, "It's for the children," we can all have a good laugh about that one.

Dishonest, greedy, unethical, and self-serving: good luck, states. You're all going bankrupt, and you have government unions to thank.

Yup... And an administration in Washington that fully supports the activity.

Then Washington can fund each state that goes bankrupt.

And we did it all for the Children.

It will be a wonderfully peaceful and Christian US when 80% of us are living in poverty as "free" serfs. Unemployment will be solved because the majority of family men will be working two jobs to pay the bills. The news releases about new jobs NEVER state what the new jobs are paying.

The thing that comes to my mind is Reagans Handling of PATCO...

If you are contracturally required to be in the classroom and abandon your post...

That's dereliction of duty and grounds for termination. Period.

In todays economy I am sure there are thousands of qualified teachers that would be more than willing to move to Wisconson...

What I really think obama wants is rioting to start so that he can call out the troops and create a precedent for martial law...

I'd say that he is trying to instill a martyr scenario for the labor folks. Good luck with that. It would appear that some are done being held hostage and having funds withdrawn from their checks to support causes other than their own.

    Three points from a Cheesehead:

    1. The state capitol, Madison, is VERY liberal. It is referred to as Sixty Square Miles Surrounded by Reality.

    2. Our last governor, Diamond Jim Doyle, was in the hip pocket of WEAC (the state teachers union). He and the Democrats catered to it. This is a direct result of their policies towards it and the other state employees' unions.

    3. To avoid a quorum and a vote on the bill, the senate Democrats have fled to Illinois. The State Patrol is now tasked with bringing at least one, by compulsion, back to the statehouse should any come back. I must state that I never thought I'd live to see the day it would take a cop to find a Democrat in Madison!

There's more, but I must get dinner started.

So the solution is to pay unsustainable benefits with tax dollars we don't have to government employees who are dishonest, and skip work "because they're sick" to throw a fit?

    Wow.

Oh, and here's another little factoid to decimate billwald's ignorant comment about "serfdom"...
    http://maciverinstitute.com/2010/03/average-mps-teacher-compensation-tops-100kyear/

For rational people, that ought to break your "give a rip" switch for these folks.

I say give 'em notice, and fire the lot of them, if they don't go back to work by the deadline.

    Absolutely!

But, didn't their contract already warn them and give them notice?

All that has to be done is match the sickness to the protests and you've got Fraud...

    BTW...

They make more than I do as a professional Metrologist and ATE Programming Specialist...

No one is actually talking about cutting the pay of teachers! They are talking about the teachers kicking in 12% of the cost of their health insurance plan.

Sure wish I ONLY had to pay 12% of my plan!

For years union members in good faith have taken benefits in lieu of cash pay. Now in bad faith the employer claims he is only reducing benefits, not pay. Might be hard for Baptists to understand the concept . . . .

Nope, we fully understand Bill. We understand that unions are willing to bankrupt anybody, to include thier own nation, to get what they supposedly deserve. Yeah, they are going to get what they deserve alright. To bad that the rest of of us are going to get what they deserve right along with them. Again, welcome to the United States of Greece.

Was talking to my Mail Carrier and he is pro union...

Seems his experience is entirely different than mine...

He has needed the union because of bad leadership.

Where I never have. I've been blessed with some pretty good bosses. Mostly.

I heard a blurb that the collective bargaining process in WI would take from 12 to 15 months to resolve the benefits issue.

The Govenor obviously felt it was something that could not wait. Hence legislation to make it happen now.

Instead of reserving their right to future bargaining rights the unions in America have gone ballistic.

IMHO they have blackened their own noses and, personally, I'd just as soon have them stripped of all collective bargaining rights.

Look it's *NOT* the end of the world!

The contract can be renegotiated next time it comes up.

But, instead of planning on collective bargaining, in the future, the unions have effectively admitted defeat and given up the ghost...

    It's about time, IMHO!

Which is really sad because there really are employers that exploit their labor force, do not act in good faith, and where a union is essential.

(Unfortunately, the few places I've worked under those types of conditions, were also places where they just as soon lock you out as to negotiate. After all such a thing is beyond their control and uncle sam has already given them the money!)

REALLY? There was no negotiating required under previous administrations. The unions asked and they got whatever they wanted.

Surely anyone as ~smart~ as a teacher should have been able to see that they were living in a la-la land and it couldn't go on forever?

Surely, of all people who should have realized if it's too good to be true, it probably is just that!

    TANSTAAFL!

A deal is a deal and a contract is a contract. Any of you ever try to get your bank to reduce your mortgage because your work was cut? You all "believe in" one rule for the workers and the opposite rule for our owners. It is clear whom you have sold your souls to.

There are no resources to fulfill any obligation. We are broke. The money is not there nor can it be obtained. It is not that the money is there and we just will not pay it. The money is not there. How many ways can it be said realistically. Did I mention the money is not there.

Contracts are renegotiated when they are due to expire. When the time's up, the deal's off.

Yes, there are different rules for owners and workers. He who risks gets to reap the reward, at least it's supposed to be that way. But the owner/worker analogy doesn't fit here. The public employees unions don't work for a for-profit entity. They work for the taxpayers.

And if my opinion causes you to ask who I've sold my soul to, I'd ask you the same question.

If Walker went PATCO on the teachers unions, I highly doubt there would be any trouble finding replacements.
