The family of imprisoned Border Patrol agent Ignacio Ramos was the victim of an attempted hit on their lives this month, as the agent's wife says someone broke into their home and filled it with gas, trashing photographs and pummeling their dog.

In my estimation, pardoning these two Americans is one of the most if not the most appealing and positive thing President Bush can do before he leaves office. If he fails to do this, then much of the good will I've had in thinking of him as a man of conscience and justice who was used and manipulated by his office..... will be lost.

It seems each person running for office or in office faces a defining moment: Bush seems to think it was 9-11; that shaped the policy and the nation for the succeeding 7+ years, but this pardon speaks to the character of the man who held this office: His decision will sort of sum up 'did he care about us, our borders, our people, those who's service protected us?'
