Shock, dismay, and disgust do not even to begin to describe my reaction to this story.

Woman Pleads Guilty to Slashing Baby's Throat for Revenge

    Tuesday , April 11, 2006

BOSTON — A woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to slashing the throat of her roommate's 9-month-old baby and leaving him to bleed to death in retaliation for being asked to move out.

Natalie Rodriguez, 23, of Chelsea, had faced first-degree murder charges but pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and kidnapping in the December 2002 death of Xavier Antonio Miranda.

Under the plea deal, she could be released from prison in 29 years.

Rodriguez had known Xavier's mother, Giselle Colon, since childhood. After Rodriguez lost her job at a Social Security office, she moved in with Colon, authorities said. But family members said the arrangement didn't work out: Rodriguez frequently drank, often became belligerent, and did not pay rent.

Eventually, the family asked her to leave, and the deadline for doing so was the day she killed the baby, prosecutors said.

Rodriguez admitted in the plea deal to taking the baby from his crib, slashing his throat and then leaving him by a trash can near a neighbor's driveway.

Why is Ms. Rodriguez still alive?

Why does the prosecutor that allowed a plea deal still have a job?

I hope some nice, large woman in prison named Bubba finds out about this and treats Miss Rodriguez with all the respect a woman who kills a baby should be treated with.

I know men in prison don't take kindly to men who abuse and/or kill children. I wonder how women in prison "handle" these people?

I can only hope and pray that this criminal finds Jesus while she is in prison and that her life be spared until she does find Jesus. Wouldn't you rather witness her testimony 10, 20, 29 years from now??? What a miraculous change of heart that would be.

I would love if God would save her. That is in God's hands. I also think she should be executed for her crime. I understand that you don't agree...so we will simply leave it at that.

My guess is that their logic was they rather have her in jail for 29 years, then let her get off by reason of insanity. Dena Schlosser just got off for that.

Correct! I found a website that tells you what states don't have it: STATES WITHOUT DEATH PENALTY

    From it:
Does Massachusetts Have Life Without Parole: Yes

Last Execution Information: The death penalty was abolished for good in 1984. The last execution, however, was in 1947. Edward Gertson and Phillip R. Belino were electrocuted for killing Robert Williams.

Have you checked the homicide rates in states without the death penalty?

In 2003, the Statistical Abstract of the United States reported that the average murder rate in states without the death penalty was slightly less than half the rate for the United States as a whole.

It could be argued, I suppose that the murder rate and the death penalty are both indicators of the degree to which life is respected in each state, but there might be a cause and effect as well.

    Galatian,

It looks as though those states without the death penalty tend to have a higher average income and smaller populations.

I would also wonder what the race percentages are in those states.

States with large urban areas, and lower average income, and more racially-mixed, I would venture to guess, tend to have a higher murder-rate.

Well I just came upon this one after starting the thread about 10 year old murdered girl that the guy wanted to eat.

Sometimes I just dont know how much more of this we have to put up with before God says ENOUGH!...and He comes back and puts this world out of its misery. I keep thinking it cant get worse...then it does. The scriptures speak of things degenerating worse to more worse to even more worse as we near the end.

There is coming a time when God will take care of His people, He will send Satans people where they have chosen, and we begin eternity.

God help us, and come quickly Lord Jesus.

Massachusetts does not have the death penalty. I lived there for 8 years. In their eyes the death penalty is too inhumane. Go figure....

Again I say, pray for the family, pray for the killer, and all involved. As I've said before, only God can heal such wounds and God will get justice. If not here on earth, in the afterlife there will be justice through our Lord and Savior.

As opposed to all of the abortion clinics all over the state which they don't seem to have a problem with.

This is a very sad situation, life has become so devaluated in this country that these things seem to be happening at an alarming rate from coast to coast. [IMG]

Which state? Massachusetts? Or Tennessee? Massachusetts is a very, very liberal state. I lived there for 8 years, as indicated, but it doesn't mean I think as the majority of them seem to.
