    There's a huge gap between, "I wouldn't choose to sing that," and "that's not worship." JDF...you stated the latter explicitly. I defend your right to say you don't prefer it...or even to say that it would not be sung in your church. But to claim "it's not worship" goes too far, IMO.

    Wow.. I didn't get on the boards today because there was this conservative thing that had to do something with TEA... and I had some other things...
    So I missed most of this today..

    To my surprise, I am called a horrible name.. LIb...LIBER... OH, I can't bring myself to say it!!! LIBEE.... OBam... PELOS... LIB....

    Aw.. what the hay.. I LOVE GOD HONORING CHRISTIAN ROCK AND ROLL, BABY!

    And what is more impressive is that GOD LOVES God honoring Christian Rock and roll.. and RAP!

    Listen, I grew up in a very oppressive home.. My dad was a Baptist preacher that only liked bluegrass Junk.. He would complain about me listening to Petra.. but he would go to town listening to George Jones and Tammy Wynette, howl like dogs singing Junk about cheating on one another...

    Then we would go to church, and no talent musicians would get up and butcher songs with their twang and hollering, ...

    OH yeah.. that's God honoring..

    They would say stuff like, The lord says to make a noise for Him...

    I would think.. well bring in the hounddogs... they make a more joyful noise than you!

    I had one preacher stand in church and preach against Carman songs.. all the while after church his daughter and her friends were in the parking lot doing the Macarena! :BangHead:

    The last Southern Gospel group I heard talked about money the whole time and the payment on their bus they had to make...
    I walked out..

    Southern Gospel is nothing but Branson style country gone wild!

    Yes... CCM artists will be in Heaven.. DAvid went to Heaven.. I can't wait to hear his Band play!

    I may even audition for guitar!

    OH< and it might surprise some, that my favorite song is, "It is well with my soul"...

    Thank you for not quoting my whole post. It's much easier to manipulate people's words when you only quote the parts you like, isn't it?

    I also like the fact that you completely ignored that I specified "OUR CHURCH" and didn't say anything at all about other churches or individuals choosing to use it as worship.

    Let me ask you this: if I believe it was "worldly", then why would I be suggesting that she listen to it? If I believed it was worldly, then why would I be defending the genre of music (presumably also "worldly") it comes from?

    The ironic thing is that, while they may call me a liberal because they don't like the same kind of music I do, I'm one of the most conservative people you'll ever meet.

    How dare you say that David was a CCM artist. He was considered contemporary in his day (because contemporary just means modern) but I do not believe that you can say that David was rocking and rolling or that he was rapping the Psalms. [personal attack removed]. David's "band" will not have anything to do with rock and roll or rap. [Please post to the OP, and avoid the rhetoric]

    Notice that personal pronouns are used 11 times and reference to God or Christ are only used 7 times. Where is the emphasis put then? It looks to me as the "artist" that wrote this song seems to be talking all about himself. This is self-centered worship. Worship is not self-centered: worship is for God not us. This is one of the places where I have a problem with Rock and Roll and Rap that has Christian lyrics.

    So would you rather us listen to a traditional recording of Amazing Grace? Have you ever considered the lyrics of it? How is it any better in this regard?

    How about "I shall not be moved"?

    Jesus loves me?

    A new name in glory?

    A closer walk with thee?

    If you're going to whine about this then you've got to wipe out ALOT more than just contemporary stuff.

    BTW...I know Mark Hall personally. Perhaps you should spend time working on your own life, instead of denigrating a great man of God who is serving God faithfully.

    Most of your posts have a tone of, "I thank thee, o Lord, that I am not like the publicans..."

    While we're at it...your personal attacks on a fellow BB member have been reported.

    Disagree with them, point out the flaws in their theology.. (or lack thereof) and they question our salvation!... LOL

    For you to say that Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin and others are doing the Devil's work is ridiculous...

    Another point....

    God saved people while they were in consentration camps because God can bring good from a evil situation. However, does the good justify the evil? No, to say that would not make sense. Therefore, even though people might be getting saved under CCM does not justify the music. Music has many components (i.e. rhythm, melody, harmony, etc.). It has been proven in a lab study that animals that were introduced to Rock and Roll music. This study was done by a neurobiologist that wanted to disprove the affects of Rock and Roll music, but had to admit that he was wrong when he found out that the culprit of the detrimental effects on the animals was rhythm. (Richard Lipkin, "Jarring Music Takes Toll on Mice," Insight, April 4, 1998, page 58.) Rock and Roll is associated with rebellion. Rebellion is opposite of what God wants from us. Look at Genesis 3 where Adam and Eve rebelled against what God had told them. Sin simply described is rebellion against God. Why would you want to mix Christian lyrics with music that is associated with rebellion? Rebellion is 110% against God's nature. If we are Christians (followers of Christ, literally means Christ's slaves), how could we be associated with rebellion? This would be an oxymoron. You should not be a follower of Christ and be rebelling against Him. Once you are saved, you can still sin (rebel against Christ) but it breaks the fellowship that you have with him. If we break all this down into a formula we would come up with this: rock and roll = rebellion, rebellion= against God's nature, against God's nature = sin, therefore rock and roll = sin (plain and simple). Everything that Rock and Roll stands for (drugs, relationships, drinking, smoking, cussing, being a "hell raiser", rebellion, etc) is against the very nature of God. How can you tell me that there is going to be Rock and Roll, Rap, and other forms of CCM in Heaven?

    I don't have to question your salvation...and how does "accusing the Brethren" make me "a fine example of WHY" you "KNOW God loves CCM. You are the one that is being rediculous. When did I question your salvation? That is between you and the Lord. To bad you know more about the rules on here than you know about the music that is going to be in Heaven. Isn't pointing out that David and his band are going to play CCM is against the rules? Huh? If I get kicked off of here I won't care, because I do not want to take part in a website that has people like you stating things such as CCM is going to be in heaven. How do you know this anyway? You question me on things, but you do not explain when I question you?
