Are you saying I'm squelching an interesting debate, or we should debate a sport that's interesting?

I have no problem with us debating the merits of soccer or the merits of any sport, but let's do it in a topic/thread that is germane (I wouldn't want someone bashing hockey in our discussion of the Stanley Cup Finals). Just trying to keep all the threads on topic as best I can, friend. No disrespect intended.

Wow. Right now, the USA is getting blown out 3-0. No defensive pressure to speak of. This doesn't bode well.

3-0 in soccer is not merely losing, is it? Doesn't that equate to being blown out by 30 in American football?

Pretty much they must beat Italy and Ghana, and hope those two teams draw tonight.

THey need to finish first or second in their group. Three points for a win and one point for a draw. The most they can hope for now is 6 points.

I told my wife it was like losing 10 to 0 in baseball.

    It's pretty bad :(.

They were listless, flat, unimaginative. They had no fire or determination. This is not the Team USA that I expected to see in this World Cup.

    Win the next 2 games...

If they play even close to how they did today, they will be home very quick.

Well, at least when my Irish freinds say something tomorrow I can say, "I sure hope Ireland does better in their match." :);)

Is that just the wrong side of humiliation? I'd say, if that was my team, we were poor on the day but it was only three.
The Czech Rep are ranked very highly, one of the favourites, I think the USA will play well against Italy but poorly against Ghana. The USA seems to lack physical strength but have skill.

The police in North Wales have advised the English there not to be 'so in the face' with our flag. HaHa!

    They're back on.

Brazil is up 1-nil on Croatia after one half. I expect both will advance to the next stage though.

I hope you are right, but unless Bruce Arena can get his squad to play with enthusiasim and a hunger to win, that won't happen.

I don't know, Croatia did well in the second half and came close to tying it up a couple of times. I feel the game could have easily been a draw. The way to beat Brazil is to control the possesion time. Brazil is a possesion team and if you can limit the amount of time they have the ball you hurt them and can take advantage fo them.

The way things are set up Argentina and Brasil would not meet unless it be in the final. Now that would be a World Cup final! I would love to see that.

Possible, Italy do not look that good, but rarely have I seen a World Cup team look as bad as the US did Monday.

Then there is France, who have not scored a goal in the World Cup since they won the title in 1998. Go figure.
