The lord saved me over 30 years ago in College, and I have read and am well versed in all things theological, but who is this dude, never heard of him?

 

No, Paul Washer would not be welcome in my church.

I find it interesting (actually, sad) that Washer and the guy in the video are both deciding who is saved and who is not saved. Must be nice to be god-like.

 

Funny how two people can listen to the same thing, but hear something different.

You say you hear him deciding who is saved. I hear him proclaiming what God has already said and explaining the criteria for salvation.

You make it sound as if he's saying, "Bob, congratulations! You're saved! Joe, too bad about you. You're going to Hell."

That's not what he's saying at all. He's explaining what the Bible says you must do to be saved and discussing what happens to those who have done that, those people who haven't, and those who say they have, but are producing no good fruit.

Not at all. If we did, then we probably wouldn't support Heartcry, which believes in a grace based salvation which can not be earned or merited.

If Washer believed in a works-based gospel, then doesn't it strike you as a little odd that he would place himself under the authority of a pastor who routinely preaches against a works-based gospel and is a member of a church called "Grace Life Church"

If Paul Washer is in it for his own glory, then he's really, really bad at it. I've seen his house and his truck and they're not the house and truck of somebody who's in it for their own glory. He could easily make millions. He doesn't. He's paid a small stipend and is under the authority of his pastor and his church.

Yep. There's that good old Arminian fruit of the spirit, for you. Which spirit, I'm afraid to ask.

 

Washer doesn't preach a works Gospel, he preaches the Gospel that works.

 

I didn't say anything about your doctrine. I said it's indicative of the fruit you're producing.

Evidence that you didn't even bother to read my posts. I didn't say anything about sovereignty or election.

I don't understand what you object to. All he says is that his missionary work takes place in Third World countries and that when he observes the difference in their understanding and ours, that ours, as a culture, is based more on the world's culture, rather than on the Word of God and, as a result, many people are deceived a because they believe they're saved in spite of their lack of repentance or fruit, simply because they repeated a canned prayer.

I'd say that's pretty much dead on.

My favorite line: "I don't know what you're applauding for. I'm talking about you. "

 

Then why are you judging Washer's fruit?

Is that an example of the fruit you want God to judge?

 

I wouldn't listen to him or give heartcry a dime of my money
