So, would you permit Xzibit to collect your car and put it through West Coast Customs and have them pimp your ride?

I've never seen that show. If I could choose, I would pick TLC's Overhauling show to do it.

Actually I would not let him pimp my ride but I would let him pimp my 19 year old daughter's ride. She has a 2001 Chevy Prizm.

I don't want a pimp mobile, but would love to have Chip Foose and his homeys overhaul my truck.

At my last church, I told the youth group to email MTV and say "Please pimp my youth pastor's ride!"

I don't think many of them did, though...and Xibit never showed.

    Ah well.

    Never heard of Xzibit.
    And I'm hoping to
"pimp my ride" is to give it a make-over.

The mere thought that Christians would go along with a term that puts a positive spin on "pimping" anything makes me ill.

I abhor anything associated with MTV. Watched a few things on MTV, and have now blocked it out.

I replied "no" because my car is a lease. I don't think they would be too understanding in removing a fishtank from my arm rest.

Hasn't the reverse happened with "gay"? Would you still call someone who is happy that?

Me, too. Such class, NOT! :(

Why would a Child of the King want to stoop to such levels?

    webdog,

I don't think the example you gave is on the same level as the term "pimp". The word "pimp" has a specific meaning which has NOT changed. It STILL refers to a person who gets women to prostitute themselves in order for him to get some or all of the money for it. In the ghetto these guys are looked up to in a way....they dress flashy and outrageously, and they ride around in flamboyant cars. They "live the high life", so to speak. THe word still refers to these guys. So when a Christian dares to refer to something around him as "pimpish" in order to describe it as being cool, or nice-looking, or something great than the Christian is lending authenticity to the idea that a pimp is someone who ought to be emulated.

Let me add as well, if any youth pastor of one of my kids ever encouraged them to email MTV about ANYthing, I'd not only go to the pastor and complain, but I would not allow my child to be in that youth group any longer. It shows a tremendous lack of discernment on the part of the youth pastor.

I don't even allow MTV on in my home, I certainly wouldn't give them my car or truck.

I don't allow MTV in my home and I don't allow pimping in my vocabulary.

We Christians may be in the world, but we're not of it... [IMG]

FYI Other networks that fall under the MTVN:

    TV Land
    VH1 Classic
    Nickelodeon
    Nickelodeon Gas
    Noggin
    MTV 2
    Spike TV
    Country Music Television

While some have decent programming, the people behind these networks are MTV supporters.
