    The associate should be fired without further ado. In my opinion he is a scoundrel. Not only is he spreading gossip (it is possible to speak facts and still be gossiping) but he is opening himself up for a potential lawsuit.

    Individual staff salaries should be confidential. If someone in the congregation feels that they need to know an individual staff member's salary, they should be required to sign a statement that they will keep the information confidential.

    This is a good point.

    Discussing the salaries of others is a problem. Especially other staff, by staff. Especially to those outside the church.

    Well the associate wanted to quit"and did". He agreed he should just pray for him and leave it in Gods hands.
