Wrong ways to think vs right ways to think

    Wrong:
    God loves me and because He saw my worth,He saved me. God loves me and saved me and now I have worth.

    Right:
    God does love me and created me in His image. His death on the cross for me shows me the depth of my sin. He alone is worthy of praise.

    Wrong:

    I want my child to feel good about him or her self so I am going to tell her how valuable she is and how special she is to God.

    Right:

    I love my child and I am going to hug her and tell her so. I'm also going to tell her how grateful I am to God for giving her to us. She is a gift from God. Isn't God good?

    Wrong:

    God is here to meet MY needs and to make me feel significant.

    Right:

    I am here to serve God and proclaim His excellencies. God uses me for HIS glory.

    Wrong:

    I am in Christ to have my identity needs met. If I would just realize who I am in Christ I would no longer be depressed,have a lack of assurance,or feel worthless.

    Right:

    Being in Christ is a precious truth. I love thinking about what He has done for me. I am in Christ for the purpose of proclaiming His excellencies...not to have my needs met.

    Wrong: God understands my struggles and problems with sin because I have been abused at one point in my life.

    Right: God could have at any time given me different circumstances in life but has chosen the ones he did for the purpose of teaching me valuable lessons of his goodness, grace, and mercy (Acts 17).

    Wrong: The university of Florida has a good football program.

    Right: The Florida State Seminoles will be the next NFL expansion team.

    Wrong: All that matters is the heart (I love this one).

    Right: We are told to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. This is what is acceptable before him.

    Wrong: There is such a thing as people who initiate seeking after God.

    Right: Christ is the only seeker (I have come to seek and to save that which is lost).

    and finally...

    Wrong: Man determines his own destiny.

    Right: God has freewill and man is not sovereign.

    Wrong: I follow your rights and wrongs or I'm not spiritual.

    Right: I follow God's rights and wrongs and if they aren't the same as yours, too bad.

    Tim, I would be inclined to agree with you, but you are wrong.

    I meant to add this one:

    Wrong: Ethnic Jews are God's people today.

    Right: Only those who have faith in the Messiah are God's people, both now and forever.

    I don't have anything significant to add--but I do like being the last person to post on this topic. Then the debate forum board reads "Wrong ways to think vs ... Tim" It makes it seem like I'm the personification of right-thinking! What an ego trip!
