You cant even get out of bed

    Yesterday, my husband and I were at our Michigan Southern Baptist state convention, which was held at our home church.

    They played this video with this song that was so amazingly convicting. Im looking for the name of this song.

    It doesnt sound anywhere near new. If I had to guess, I would say it was written in the 70's, but I could be totally wrong.

    The man singing, is so passionate. He is almost yelling at us to go witness.

    The last lines of the song are


    Jesus rose from the dead, and you cant even get out of bed

    Its repeated over and over, and it sounds like he is almost crying. It almost has a rock-opera type sound to it that you might find in Jesus Christ Superstar, but the song itself was amazing. i was in tears.

    I want the name of that song and who writes it.
    Im hoping that some of you know!

    That was Keith Green. I have the cd let me look.

    It might be "Asleep in the Light", I'll try to confirm that. But it is definetely Keith Green.

    I think so. He was not a pure singer but for the time it was cutting edge and passionate. we could say he was Contemparary Christian when contemparary Chrisitian was not cool. His career was short, he and a child died in a plane crash. Go to wal-mart.com and sample the songs with your media player. Then you can see what you like, and if you want you can just buy the song or decide to get the whole cd.

    Keith was also a worship leader well before that became a popular thing in CCM and every group out there (seemingly) was releasing a praise & worship CD. Songs for the Shepherd and So You Wanna go back to Egypt are my favorite CD's.

    I just mean his voice is not his greatest appeal, but he makes a go of it with his style just like Rich Mullins managed to do.

    I sort of realized by sampling some of the downloads at Walmarts website, that I have a compilation with Oh Lord youre beautiful on it, and I always skip past that song because I dont like this voice. I think in Asleep in the light, that voice is called for. Its so passionate. It fits. It makes it more real than if someone with a perfect voice sang it.


    HOWEVER

    I do like Rich Mullins voice.
