In 1970 I'd signed on to a Teachers contract of 6,800$. This was the family medium (half above, half below). Governor candidate Hall said He would 'Tax the fat cats'. Hall was elected (later the Federal Government sent him to prison) and indeed did raise the taxes on the 'fat cats'. My tax increased. I was a fat cat. Last time I ever voted for a Democrat anything.

Remember, in America 'average' means RICH.

I'm pleased to hear that some of you make more than $250 after taxes.

I know I've told it before, but some teachers who had me do their taxes were shocked to know that they were the rich the Dems talked about who got a Bush tax cut.

    Hey,

Now according to Joe Biden the figure is down to $150,000. Wow it started out at $300,000 and now is down by half. Maybe by next week it'll hit $75,000.:wavey:

Amen, brother Ed Edwards -- Preach it!

    :saint: I'm retired making $50K/year - I'm rich beyond all avarice :sleeping_2:

I'll be glad to share the fruits of 40 years of working 1 to 4 jobs (where College -which I paid for- is one of the 'jobs') with those who can't figure enough out about 'submission' to get or hold a job.

The nature of poverty has changed

Prior to WW2 the majority of Americans and Canadians were working poor. The middle class was maybe 15%. People put cardboard in their shoes to cover the holes. half the people didn't have electricity or indoor plumbing. People starved and froze to death in the winter.

These days the poor have every sort of consumer goods that the rich people have. This is the only country where the poor people die of being fat. The poor people have poorer quality consumer goods, have to stand in line to get them, and don't have financial security except SS.

$50K ($50,000) is a whole lot more than the $250 - not $250,000 - that you first mentioned!

But, hey, the bar is going down. It's at $120,000 now. See
    How Low Can It Go?

The government will not make you rich!

I do hope Obama's people (the ones who voted for him) realize that even if they don't make what ever the higher paid salary in which Obama plans to TAX. That they will be the ones who will be paying it. whether it be a small company or Big Company or your Dr. Plummer or even the grocer down to the Hair dressers you name it. If it's a product or service the cost of taxes will be PASSED ALONG to Everyone else.

Excellent point about tax on business in general. People somehow think someone else is going to pay their way without charging more. It costs even more than if they paid it themselves because it also has to cover the handling costs - the accounts and lawyers - business have to expend to comply.
