Central Michigan University is being sued after one of their women's basketball players said she was kicked off the team due to her heterosexuality.

Brooke Heike was a high school basketball star who was aggressively sought after by several colleges that wanted the league MVP from Washington Township, Michigan, to continue her record-breaking rebounding and shot-blocking skills on their campus. After leading her team to its first conference title in 18 years as a high school senior, the 6-foot-2 forward decided to attend Central Michigan University, which offered her a full scholarship.

But Heike says she fell out of favor in 2007 with CMU's new women's basketball head coach, Sue Guevara, and was eventually kicked off the team. She claims the coach, who is allegedly lesbian, took issue with her heterosexuality. Cindy Rhodes Victor of the Victor Firm, PLLC is representing Heike.

"She was not only kicked off the team, but her scholarship was taken away because the coach kept telling her that she wasn't her 'type,'" Victor explains. "And when Brooke would ask what was that, [Guevara] would say 'I don't want you to wear makeup, you have a boyfriend, I don't want you to have a boyfriend...you're too girly girl' -- that type of thing."

I cant stand the word "straight" as it is used by homosexuals. "Straight" and "gay" are words used by homosexuals to try to legitimize their sinful lifestyle.

I prefer the word "normal" over straight.

I have a sister in law that is a lesbian, and she too is very critical of other women including her own sisters that are married to men. But, even though she hates men, her "partner" has a man's haircut, wears men's clothes, and does work that is mostly considered "manly" work?????? I dont get it, if she hates men, then why does she want a woMAN that trys to be manly?

Reverse discrimination, like in this story, is becoming more common every day.

I believe that people choose to live the way they want to. That's why it is called a life style. Its a shame that society has regarded homosexuals as being a minority. Since I am overweight, I'm guessing society will have me put into a minority as well.

The term "normal" these days have been demonized too much. When you use the word normal to describe a person, others will always ask, "What do you mean"? They will say what is normal to you isn't normal to me. To avoid this, I prefer to stick with the term "straight".

Now when it comes to describing a man that prefers a man or a woman that prefers a woman, I avoid using the word "gay". I will always call them homosexuals or even sodomites. I don't know why people have taken a word that is supposed to be defined as "happy" or "bright & coloful" & turn it into meaning "homosexual".

Yeah, kids today understand the Flintstones' "We'll have a gay old time!" in a completely different way.

I don't mind being called "straight." If you're not straight, what are you? (hint: "warped" is one possibility....)

The question that comes to mind is did she go on to be successful in another program? If not maybe she just wasn't good enough for that level of play? We really don't know the facts.
