He didn't say anything that I particularly find disagreeable, or wrong. I think Christians often use the issue of homosexuality as a hot button issue to justify criticism of or judgement of someone they don't like. They point to an isolated instance like this, declare the few words that someone said to be their whole theology on the subject, and then claim because it doesn't fit their view, it is unbiblical and so is the person they are criticizing.

On the other side of that coin, it is quite disturbing that someone who has a nice smile and inherited a wealthy church with a lot of money has become the pastor of the largest church in America, and probably has the largest "fan" following of any religious figure in the country. His book is like his preaching, it has absolutely no real substance to it at all.

When I was in Houston a couple of weeks ago, I noticed that his name is as high and prominent on the side of the old Compaq Center as the church name.

Joel was unprepared to take the pulpit after his father passed away. All he had done previously was direct the media ministry of Lakewood.

What's so sad is he could use that huge ministry for such good. Imagine if only half of his regular audience worked the food lines at Thanksgiving this year. Could you imagine how many people could be fed and witnessed to?

    This is not surprising.
