Hello, I am a youth leader for an IFB church. As this is a youth forum, can any youth give me some ideas on how I can get the youth at our church involved in Christian service? Also, visit our webpage and if you have any suggestions on what we can add to make it more "youthful" I'm open to suggestions: www.geocities.com/the_narrow_road_00/index.html click on the Youth For Christ link.

Just do it the old fashioned way. Teach those kids the Bible. It's what we need. We need to be equiped to answer questions on the Bible. I've had questions thrown at me from anything to Evolution to modest dress. We need to be taught our Bibles. When people get saved, they ought to have a hunger to learn Bible, and serve God.
Take em out on visitation, do Bible quizes, and sword drills. Have them certian portions of scripture that will teach them valluable Biblical truth. See if you can get a few of them to sing a special at church everyonce in a while. Teach them to serve God in all areas of their life. Help them get grounded in their faith, so that they might serve God their whole life.

The world would say something like, playing more games or relxing your standards and yes that may make it grow, but the purpose is to bring honor and glory to God.
Some say this is the day of the mega church, but if your going to prech the Bible without apology you'll probably have a micro church. But just "preach the word, be instant in season and out..."
If that is done I'm confident that although some may leave it will truly bring more people to Christ. Which is our sole purpose for being here. Thanks...
    Yours In Christ,
    Jeremy TK Farley

I definitely agree with the suggestions above, and I would add that you should give them ample opportunities to serve in Christ's name. And there are plenty of opportunities: soup kitchens, hospitals, children's wards, summer missions camps, etc. Just make sure the Christian foundation is always there for your youth. One neat thing our church in NC did late last year was to take a group of youth to Samaritan's Purse to help process all the shoeboxes.

One big piece of advice from me: don't be discouraged if service opportunities are sparcely attended at first. Give all your efforts and attention to those who do show up. If you reach just one and burden him or her with a heart for service, you will have accomplished much. Don't ever despair; God will provide for you all if you are faithful.

    Blessings,
    James

I agree with the one who offered the last post. Keep them busy in serving Christ...
May I add on to my latest post with this:
Keep them busy serving God. And the greatest way to do that is by going on soul winning vistitation. Sure doing charitable deeds are great, but there is no greater thing to do then to share Jesus with someone else. Encourage them to lead others to Christ and they'll truly get a burden to serve God w/ or w/out a youth group.
    Thanks...

[IMG] To reach young people in these times, I have found that they want someone who is real. Don't act or make believe; if you need something done, tell them what it is and be straight up about it. Treat them like you would anyone else. Tell them that they are important and mean it. God bless you and good luck! [IMG]

unless you have the support of the parents of the teens you're sunk... that's what's happening to my dad(he's the youth pastor at our church) and all of the kids are spoiled rotten jerks(I know that sounds harsh, but the last month and a half I've had to sit in Sunday School and listen to them all bad mouth my dad... like I wasn't even in the room!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR    )

  14. I heard one preacher remark on what he answered parents when they asked him what his church offers youth. His answer was "Preaching, praying, singing, and shouting." Well, I am for it.
