I pondered on where to put this, I decided it was more about business ethics than translations.. If the mods disagree feel free to move it without worrying whether I'll be offended or not. The SBC took a stance against the TNIV claiming the gender issue was carried to the point of messing with theology. Other than the few posts on the board I haven't looked at it to see what all the fuss is/was about, but that's not what I'm wondering about anyway. If the SBC thinks this translation is so poor that they refuse to allow it to be carried in their stores, why do they continue to do any business with Zondervan? I realize Zondervan is huge in Christian publishing and to stop associating would be a large financial hit, but is it ethical to support a company one believes is perverting word?
