The 1,000 years of Revelation 20. #4 When does this Binding of Satan Take Place?
"The question is now: When does this binding of Satan take place?
"Here we need to understand what things were like in the days of the Old Testament.
"Hear Psalm 147:19-20:
"He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel [i.e., the Jews received the revelation of God through the prophets in the Word].
"He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them."
Acts 14:16 makes the same point:
God “in times past suffered all... -
Irrational theology.
A serious poster in another thread wrote:
. . . I tell you that Satan is presently bound for a season.
1 Peter 5:8-9, ". . . Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. . . ." -
Believed King James was most accurate, now unsure what to think
I grew up on the NIV version of the Bible, which for me means hardly used at all, not enough to really remember anything, but I say this because I did not grow up on the King James. After I got saved I heard about KJVO and didn't understand it but did wonder about all the versions. I cam to believe that the King James was the most accurate English Bible still today, partly due to manuscripts being the Majority Text related, and partly due to translational formal equivalence and the use of... -
Dual Heresy - Torrance
Ok....been hanging around the house healing. I decided to read TF Torrance as @DaveXR650 mentioned him quite a few times recently (I am not very familiar with Torrance, only that he taught what he called "Total Atonement", believed the Atonement was accomplished at the Incarnation, and Christ - the Person of Christ - is this Atonement).
I ran across an interesting topic reading Torrance.
Torrance claimed that we often wrongly inject human logic into God’s grace, changing God's grace into... -
I used to be a Mormon: AMA
Until about a year and a half ago, I was a practicing Mormon (member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). Since leaving, I now attend a local Baptist church whose chimes I could hear from my back porch since moving here four years ago.
Some background:
Served a two year mission
Married in the Mormon Temple
Served in multiple leadership roles
Taught Sunday school for a decade or so
Left when I woke up to it being a pack of lies
Anywho, I've noticed in the church I attend now... -
Why Don't Modern Denominations Understand The Rapture
The reason is because the church and it's associated doctrines are "mysteries" and must be revealed to prepared hearts by the indwelling Spirit, who alone can teach us his words. Generally speaking, teachers who cannot understand and discern the mystery of the church of Jesus Christ are more than likely to be off center on all the major doctrines of the faith for that simple reason, lack of spiritual discernment. That is what I notice on these boards as I interact with denominational faith... -
Romans 3:26 Often Misused (God is Just and the Justifier of sinners)
Reading arguments on this forum it occurs to me that Romans 3:26 is often taken out of its context and misused (I have done this as well).
Many have argued this as a type of problem or solution to how God has forgiven people without becoming unjust. I have argued the same - that God recreates man (man must die to sin, must be "born from above", born of the Spirit. While many things stated about God being Just and justifying sinners is true, we have to consider the passage itself. I... -
Is God Intrinsically Just?
Is God Intrinsically Just?
Psalms 99:4. ‘The King’s strength also loves justice; You have established equity;
You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.’
The question is: justice is clearly an attribute of God, but does He have to be just? Is it intrinsic to His nature?
The question weighed on the minds of theologians down the centuries. For many, the issue bore on the freedom of God. Psalms 115:3. ‘But our God is in heaven. He does whatever He pleases.’ Athanasius,... -
Every Object Short of Jesus is Vanity
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen, are temporal; but the things which are not seen, are eternal.—2 Corinthians 4:18.
The faith of the gospel stamps vanity upon the righteousness, glory, and happiness of every object short of Jesus. When the soul beholds the King in his glory, it pours contempt upon all things beside; all the transient objects of time and sense die in esteem while the crucified Saviour is in... -
Timing of the Rapture
I'm interested in hearing some input regarding the timing of the rapture. What say you?
