Confession, Repentance: discerning the truth.
In a near thread, repentance was mentioned, and I thought:
“I wonder if some on the B.B. consider them the same?”
At the dedication of Solomon’s Temple given, in 2 Chronicles, is this passage:
11Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD and the king’s palace, and successfully completed all that he had planned on doing in the house of the LORDand in his palace.
12Then the LORD appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for... -
Harmony?
@HankD wrote this in a previous thread:
We will never agree BUT we can be in harmony concerning our fellow man and God's forgiveness.
A song sung in harmony can be the epitome of beauty.
Both C and A know the importance of the salvation of human beings (apart from salvific methodology).
Both C and A have a history of participating in Great Awakening(s) with many souls added to the churches.
Both C and A have participated in the Great Commission to preach the Gospel, the fulfillment of the... -
Has Fundamentalism Lost the Gospel?
To all who have an ear:
I am not an IFB so I probably should not be even posting at this thread. But, I was raised with a "Bob Jones pastor" and was a Bus Pastor for years and years. I also, in the early to mid 1970s, attended many bus clinics where John R. (as I affectionately call him) and Jack Hyles et al spoke. So I do have experience enough to "have a dog in the fight" as it were.
In addition to my experiential credential, I have taught religion on the college and grad school levels... -
Seventh-day Adventists continued...
The original thread closed at a point where our SDA Bob Ryan was being pressed against the ropes to give an answer concerning SDA Sabbath keeping. He made a few attempts to deflect answering by posting rabbit trials hoping I would chase after them, but I will give him another chance here to prove his position on SDA Sabbath keeping as it relates to salvation.
Here is the yet to be answered question...(hint, the answer is either "yes" or "no")
Before you declare I am wrong, tell me, what... -
Why Stay in the SBC?
Hello all to my IBF friends:
I know I know, some are you are still angry at Billy Graham, the New Evangelicals, and the SBC for what you believe is there liberalism. But if you have been following us since 1979 you know we have and are coming a long way. Anyway, here is a short article not exactly an apology but a good bullet point piece telling why we have decided to stay. I thought you might want to read it.
Why Stay in the SBC?
Enjoy!

Uncle Billy Went to Church
Uncle Billy finally accepted my invitation to Church this past Sunday. The pastor preached a sermon on the Prodigal Son, and we sang, Just as I Am for a good 20 minutes while the pastor urged anyone who wanted to "accept Jesus into his heart" to come up front. Three people walked the aisle, but uncle Billy didn't budge from the mauve-cushioned pew.
Q: Has God done everything in His power to save uncle Billy?
Q: What does uncle Billy lack that the three others did not? -
Call on the name of the Lord is necessary
Rom 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Rom 10:13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
It is not only our responsibility to believe in Jesus to be saved but we must call on the name of the Lord. We must pray and confess our repentance. -
Is it really that importatant for a Baptist church to have the name "Baptist" in their name?
Not too long ago my church decided to change the name of the church for several reasons (I will mention those reasons). We went from Grace Missionary Baptist Church to New City Church. Because we took the name 'Baptist" out of our name, many of our brethren from other sister churches have given us a hard time because of it. A pastor even accused us of not being Baptist because we took the name "Baptist" out of our name.
Reasons why we changed our name:
1. There were too many churches... -

Libertarian Free Will???
There is no such animal as Libertarian Free WIll. It is a logical impossibility. If you disagree, state your case.
John Frame
1. Choices are either caused or uncaused.
2. If a choice is uncaused, then it springs from nothing and is, therefore, morally irrelevant.
3. Choices are morally relevant.
4. Therefore, choices are caused (and therefore necessary).
5. The causes of choices are either chosen or not chosen.
6. If the causes of choices are chosen, then an infinite regress of...
