Promoting the SBC
IN another Thread JonC stated "the average member does not care about the SBC except in giving to missions".
So how much emphasis should a church put on the fellowship of the SBC (or any other Baptist denomination)
Granted, one of the major points is the missions program - but should we encourage our members to attend the local association, State and even national meetings,
Should we have classes on the history of the SBC
Should we.......

The Arminian Trinity
Almost all Arminian argument includes at least one of these improperly exegeted texts.
1) Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! (ESV)”
2) 1 Timothy 2:4 "who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (ESV)
3) 2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some... -
Education: Knowledge, Understanding, Wisdom
Often here on the BB, people suggest that an uneducated debater or theologian can be just as effective as an educated one. The idea is that we all have the same Holy Spirit, so education isn't that helpful for Bible interpretation. Well, yes and no.
The answer to the idea that theological education doesn't help much is the Biblical concept of what I call a trilogy of the mind: knowledge, understanding, wisdom. Now that term is not in Scripture, but the concept is there quite often, with... -
The Colorado Wedding Cake Fight
It was stunning to many people that the U.S. Supreme Court even took up the case of Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado, who refused, on religious grounds claiming a violation of First Amendment rights to make a cake for gay couple, Dave Mullins and Charlie Craig, who came in to buy a wedding cake... The following link below tells the whole story... Thoughts?... Brother Glen

What led you to depart from Dispensational teachings?
It might be helpful to offer 5 or 6 things that you were no longer confident were the teaching of scripture.
Most of us were at first exposed to the Dispensational Premill scheme.
List some examples,and offer your thoughts, here is one example;
in the supposed earthly 1000 yr Kingdom..... were you ever comfortable with the idea.....of The Glorified Lord Jesus Christ on earth with unsaved sinners who eventually rise up in rebellion against God himself as if they could do any such thing?... -
Two Questions
I have just two questions for all those who don't think God is sovereign in election.
First, does God draw all men, without exception, to Christ?
Second, will all men be saved?
Thanks in advance for your answers. -
The Meanings of 'For'
The word 'for' appears rather a lot in the New Testament, well over 1,000 times in the KJV and equally often, I think in many other versions.
I was interested to discover that there are 21 Greek words which the KJV translates as 'for.' Just in case anyone is interested, they are:
anti
apo
achri
gar
dia (a few times with the genitive, several times with the accusative)
dioti
de
eis
ek
en
heneka
epeide
epi (sometimes with the accusative, sometimes with the dative)
kai
kai gar
kata
hoti

Be Ye Holy, For I Am Holy!
This scripture has always perplexed me... How can I be holy?... But yet we see this verse among the other ones in first Peter
1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

Baptists should be biased and discriminate
Baptists should be biased and discriminate.
They should not be ashamed or fail to push back against the politically correct thinking that any position or standard that is biased or discriminates is wrong, an evil that needs expunged.
The Baptists are supposed to base all matters of both faith and practice (that includes living and manner of living) upon the principles of Scriptures. The Scriptures are supposed to be the absolute authority and final statement of belief and living.
