A Concern of Mine
I believe in Eternal Security. However, I have found a deep problem with Eternal Security of the believer as commonly interpreted.
I believe Eternal Security may be giving many people who aren't Spirit indwelled a ton of false confidence. Like myself and a number of people I know over the years that are all positive we weren't saved and Spirit indwelled until a considerable time after becoming a church-going Christian.
As a result, and also because of the need to understand the bible... -
I have changed my mind about Police
I am a retired police officer. Through the years I have always defended officers. I have always, unconditionally sided with them in their disputes against the public. In one encounter, my perspective has changed 180 degrees. I now fully understand why so many people now hate police. The rotten apples ruin it for the rest of them. -
The churches are in dire need of understanding this!
Now, as we are entering into the end times, the time is short indeed for believers
to become true believers … by starting to obey Jesus’ commandments!
Please also see my first thread, “Have you been deceived by Satan through your church?”
The Holy Spirit, God’s angels, and Satan’s angels (demons) can all speak to us (spiritually),
i.e. they can place thoughts into our minds (but demons cannot read our thoughts).
The Holy Spirit will dwell INSIDE the true (obedient) believer …
but this... -
Neo-evangelicalism
Can someone define Neo-Evangelicalism (New Evangelicalism) For me.
In my younger days When I was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church In Cambridge Massachusetts (and later became the assistant pastor), Harold Ockenga was the self proclaimed father of New Evangelicalism. Cornerstone Baptist was KJVO (still is) and a strong Fundamentalist Church.
Anything associated with Ockenga was verboten.
For the benefit of others, New Evangelicalism in my day was considered any movement of... -
Face Off Between The KJV And NIV
An NIV thread has taken a turn to the KJV. I though I would make a thread concerning the level of accuracy between the KJV and NIV.
Now here are some ground rules:
1) It will not be legitimate to say in 1611 it meant this or that. No, both translations, in order to access their level of accuracy must be judged on the basis of the contemporary meaning of words and phrases. A good translation must be understood by the ordinary ploughboy as Tyndale said. The average unchurched individual of... -
Under Church Discipline
Was talking to a fella today who attends a Baptist church, but he is NOT a member and refused to join. Reason being, he will not put himself under the authority of any man.
He said that he only comes under the authority of Jesus Christ.
He says he has scripture to back up his belief, but did not give the passage.
Have you ever heard of such a belief - if so- what Scripture would they be using? -
Can you get to heaven if you kill yourself?

I came across a very good study on the topic of suicide. Because suicide is on the upswing in America
among teens and young people, I thought this would be a good question and topic to ponder and discuss.
Let's see what we as a group can come up with, and how other pastors and laymen handle the issue with their local churches! Please be sure to read the link! If you have additional links and material that can be used to help other... -
Un-biblical Divorce and Biblical Forgiveness
On another thread (a closed thread….I was too late to respond "The Husband of One Wife?) @TCassidy summarized what is the most typical explanation I’ve seen regarding divorce:Let's go back to the basics. A man is married and divorced before he is saved but his divorce is NOT for biblical reasons. After he is saved he is married again. But, according to God's standard for marriage, the man's first wife is still biblically married to him. When he marries again he now has two wives in the sight... -
Ugh...they came to my door this morning.
I find Jehovah's Witnesses to be so adamant and with their spiritually incorrect feet planted firmly in the ground.
How do you reach people who do not want to listen? I tried and gave them scripture. -
Life given to Jesus
John 5:26 - For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself (NASB)
What does it mean that the Father "gave" (NIV says "granted) to the Son to have life in Himself?
