Successful Evangelism
I am in disagreement with MOST on this board in this topic who are into Pragmatism and think evangelism is all about "results." No evangelism is about obedience to the Lord and trusting him to bring forth the converts. John 6:44 (NIV) 44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day."
John 6:37 (NIV) All that the father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
John 6:65 (NIV) He went on to say,... -
Martin Lloyd-Jones and antinomianism
I'm curious what your thoughts might be on this article, and the position laid out there in - namely, if you are not being accused of teaching antinomianism and licentiousness, you simply aren't preaching the same gospel that Paul preached....
Lloyd-Jones on The Gospel and the Charge of Antinomianism - Feeding on Christ
I ask because rarely have I heard a presentation of the gospel and come away thinking "wow, he's teaching that people can get saved and live however they want"
I have been... -
When is a "Bible Church" actually a "Baptist church"
Many folks are members of "Bible Churches"
My response is that "They are Baptists who will not admit it."

The Bride of Christ is NOT the Church!
I want people who will be reading this post to think outside the box. I know this view is foreign to most Christians and it will be the first time some will hear of this view. As we all know, tradition isn’t always correct and scriptural. With this is mind, I want the reader to look at scripture at face value and put aside any presumptions or traditions that have been taught for many years.
Most Christians believe that the bride of Christ is the Church or a group within the church. The... -
Use of Acronyms, Slang and Metphor's
On one of the discussion boards here, I saw someone use WTH for the Thread.
WTH can mean one of two things: "what the h***" or "what the heck".
My former Pastor from a Fundamental Baptist church preached that given the
culture we live in, every Christian should clean up their language beginning
with avoiding the use of even the most innocent of slang, such as:
"Gee" "geez" or "gee whiz" which in his view, is synonymous with taking the Lord's
name in vain.
Other slang he finds offensive... -
The Atonement-Scarcely Uunderstood Today
What happened on the Cross? Did Jesus die for everyone as some say? Did Jesus make Salvation "Possible", but not DEFINITE for anyone?
Scripture is clear and the answer simple. Jesus does not fail, Jesus died for the elect, and the elect only, it's called "Definite Atonement".
In the OT the High Priest, once a year would go into the Holy of Holies and offer blood, he'd probably see old dried up blood from the previous year, he'd offer it, and then leave. Jesus was both the One making the... -
The Solar Eclipse and God's judgment
From Ray Comfort's FB feed.
"How do you feel about the eclipse on August 21,2017, and what are your thoughts on it only touching the USA? So rare and another one coming 7 yrs later April 8, 2024 making an X on America. Do you think this is a sign from God? of Judgment?" -
The Most Powerful Christian Song I Had Never Heard
“Tearing Down Your Idols” is the theme God put on my heart for this year’s revival services at the church I serve. I was looking for a song that captured the theme. Hope and I looked for over an hour before we ran across this song. Perhaps some of you have heard it. I never had. It’s powerful. Here it is:
Listen to it again. Let the words sink in. Make it a prayer.
The message of the song is one of the major themes woven throughout the Bible.
God created us to be HIS people. Our... -
Calvin
Can anyone quote Calvin stating he taught limited atonement in the manor the typical puritan five pointer would contend?
In all my reading (which admittedly was not exhaustive and much left in the dust of the Forgottenness) I do not recall a single confirming statement, but rather found him embracing the typical view that the blood was certainly for all, but redemption was given to the few. In other words, he seemed to take as factual, Johns view of the atonement as complete and... -
What is Penal Substitution Atonement
Over a few threads @Martin Marprelate , @Yeshua1 and I have disagreed over whether or not certain people held to Penal Substitution Atonement. This began concerning in what way Christ was “made sin” for us but probably should have started here, with defining PSA.
It only took 3 threads to discover that we never settled on the definition of Penal Substitution Atonement. I think we both took for granted the definition was plain, yet we hold different definitions.
What was claimed is that...
