The fig tree represents Israel? That [Edit: may, in my opinion, be] Gnosticism
The "fig tree" in Matt.24:32 is claimed dogmatically to be Israel. That idea is found nowhere in the entire Holy Bible or Apocrypha. Yet, it is a teaching found in Gnosticism. I quote from the Apocalypse of Peter, found in the Gnostic Society Library online:
"And ye, take ye the likeness thereof (learn a parable) from the fig-tree: so soon as the shoot thereof is come forth and the twigs grown, the end of the world shall come.
And I, Peter, answered and said unto him: Interpret unto me... -
Martin Luther and the Atonement (theories of atonement)
On another thread a brother suggested Martin Luther (and many others) affirmed the Penal Substitution Theory of Atonement (PST) because their understanding of Christ's work contained both penal and substitution aspects. A quick search reveals that this has become a very common position (if you hold to PST yourself). I'd like to look at a few of these, starting with Luther.
Here is what Martin Luther taught on the subject:
“But now, if God’s wrath is to be taken away from me and I am to... -
Early English Translations and word "church"
The Wycliffe Bible (1395) does not contain the word "church", but it contains the following:
"chirch", "chirche", "chirches","chirchis" representing the people of God in both Old and New Testaments.
The Tyndale New Testament (1525) uses the word "church" twice, in the NT, Acts 14:13, 19:37; both times representing heathen, idolatrous temples.
The Miles Coverdale Bible (1535) uses the word "churches" three times, in the OT, Lev. 26:31, Hosea 8:14, Amos 7:9; and each time in an idolatrous or... -
What Do You Feel About John Hagees' Teaching on the Jews...
Has this ever bothered you?
John Hagee on Salvation for the Jews...
John Hagee, who pastors a church in Texas with an active membership of over 19,000 and who has a radio and television ministry that reaches 99 million homes, has written a book, which, by his own admission, is an attack on the very foundations of the Christian faith! In a video promoting his new book, Hagee makes the following claims:
“In Defense of Israel will shake Christian theology. It scripturally proves that the... -

Reproved, of Sin, Righteousness, and Judgment
John 16:8 And when he is come,[the Comforter] he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Acts 24:24 And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.25And as he reasoned of righteousness,... -
Sorenson's new book Neither Oldest Nor Best
Sorenson, David H. Neither Oldest Nor Best--How the Foundational Manuscripts of Modern
Bible Translations are Unreliable. Duluth, MN: Northstar Ministries, 2017.
I just received and read Sorenson's new book in which he alleges that Codex Sinaiticus was made by Constantine Simonides around 1839 to 1840 and in which he suggests that Vaticanus is of medieval origins.
David Sorenson asserted: "And where there have been changes made in the NKJV in relation to the original KJV, the... -
Preaching the Gospel to the Humble, the Law to the Proud???
It’s been presented that evangelism consists of preaching the gospel to the humble and the Law to the proud. I’ve seen this before on the BB and have wondered what biblical support there is for this “method”.
I’ve seen this linked to a specific evangelistic model - The Way of the Master – but am not sure if it is a part of their doctrine or method. For those familiar with Living Waters and their method (TWOTM, Ray Comfort), is this what the evangelistic method teaches (i.e., if a person is... -
God's word [and] Dispensationalism
The following Scriptures are why I left [Edited] Dispensationalism [Edited]
("Church" is not a biblical word, it is an eccesiastical word. The Scripture is "assembly" or "congregation")
Promises made to Israel have been totally, completely fulfilled:
Josh. 21:43-45; 23:14-16; Neh. 9:22-25; 2 Chron. 9:26; 1 Kgs 4:20,21 compared to Gen. 15:18
The Jewish theocracy has been brought to an end:
Matt. 21:43; Luke 20:16; John 4:21,23
God's people are only one people:
Rom. 10:12,13; 2:28,29;... -
Finding Girls
I haven't had any luck finding christian girls in churches around me; partly because some of them I'm not able to attend due to a disability.
How else can I find a mate?
