The great battle against sin
Brother Paul Washer The Gospel Call and True Conversion pp. 12
On the other hand, regardless of the progress a believer has made in sanctification, even the most mature one will find the Christian life to be a great struggle against sin with frequent battles, great victories, and discouraging defeats.
Gospel Assurance and Warnings pp. 39
Third, the evidence of genuine conversion is not sinless perfection but a life marked by genuine repentance and confession.

John R. Rice, Bob Jones Jr., and the “Mechanical Dictation” Controversy
Not so much for discussion (though some may want to read and discuss it), but this morning I found this journal article and thought some of you might want to read it:
John R. Rice, Bob Jones Jr., and the “Mechanical Dictation” Controversy, by Nathan A. Finn in The Journal of Baptist Studies 6 (2014).
"For all their demonstrable differences in applying biblical separation, Rice and Jones also split, in part, over a dispute about the nature of biblical inspiration. Jones and the Bible... -
Depression and Suicide
Any of you struggle with depression or suicidal thoughts? If so there is hope for you.

EXIT: The Appeal of Suicide
Not sure when the DVD version will be available but I imagine in the next month or so. I think Ray and the staff at Living Waters did a great job at tackling a very common problem in our society today and perhaps also in the church. -
"predestinated"
"predestinated" to what?
Ephesians 1
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of... -
Which translation does your congregation use?
Our congregation uses the Niv (2011), but the members are welcome to use whatever they wish. -
Is there really an Optimal Translation theory?
As cited by the Csb version, for do not all reliable translation really try to practice that?
And isn't the Csb study bible same as the Holman study bible? -
Liberal Hermeneutics
Word has reached my ear that some of my critics on this board believe that I hold to liberal exegesis which is completely false. Check out this article.
Liberal Christianity - Wikipedia
Instead, liberal Christian theologians have an allegorical interpretation of the Bible which emphasizes the moral or other spiritual lessons which can be learned from its stories......Many liberals prefer to read Jesus' miracles as metaphorical narratives for understanding the power of God.[9

How to get more involved in church
Church is not into contact evangelism so street evangelism, open air preaching, going door to door are not activities they would engage in unfortunately. They do have a nursing home ministry and I have preached before in such environments back in SC however my preaching may be too harsh in such an environment where the church assumes everyone is saved. Yes back in SC that's what the leadership assumed and when I modeled myself after some sermons that a Ray Comfort or rev brother Paul Washer... -
How do evangelical conditionalists dodge Matt 25?
Was listening to TWOTM Radio podcast today as I took my walk and Todd encountered an evangelical conditionalist who insisted that Hell did not go on forever. Todd repeatedly used Matt 25 which speaks of eternal life and eternal punishment for the damned but it did not sink in. How do you dodge this passage of scripture? -
The difference between a false teacher and a heretic
There has to be a difference but oftentimes the two are mingled together. I'd say heretics are those that teach anther gospel and or compromise the essential core doctrines of the faith, while a false teacher may just teach a false view on something. Ie Joel Osteen is a heretic, while according to my view those that teach Evangelical Conditionalism I believe to be false teachers.
