Regeneration apart from Christ
I'd like to see input from both sides. In a discussion group, there was an Arminian who laid a charge that "Calvinists teach regeneration apart from Christ"
So I ask the Arminians here - is this how you characterize the teaching that regeneration precedes faith?
And I ask the Calvinists here - do you think this characterization is accurate? -
HCSB to the CSB
So will the HCSB go the way is the 1984 NIV and not be published any longer? Maybe I should pick up that SUPER-giant print bible I've been looking at on christianbook.com. -
A Helpful Article about the Text Forms
I saw in the comments on "The KJVO Movement is Headed Down" thread that many of you are interested in issues related to the best form of the Greek text.
This reminded me that just about a month ago, a friend of mine sent me an unpublished (but possibly to be published) article on this topic. Now, I know only a tiny bit about this, not nearly enough to have a confident informed opinion of my own. But the friend who sent me the article is Tim Friberg, who is known world wide for the... -
Do we properly handle the Problem of Evil in the church
I'll give my story of how I came to defeat my own Problem of Evil and then I'll get to some questions.
I had wrestled with the notion that God was the final monster After All for years as a self-avowed Christian with no faith.
The crux of the matter was a question I couldn't let go: Can I forgive God for what he has done to me and others, especially children, who can die in sometimes torturous ways? Of course, I was dead wrong in my frame of mind. God shouldn't ask for anyone's forgiveness... -
The KJVO Movement Is Headed Down
It is my judgment that the KJV Only movement is fractured and discredited (as a movement, not speaking of individual IFB churches). As evidence, note that the Dean Burgon Society is fractured. They found out that Riplinger had been divorced twice, so they split with her, quit selling her stuff, and wrote books against her.
Again, this year Ruckman died. It remains to see what will happen to his little Bible institute and his publishing company, but I predict a downtrend due to the fact that... -
Spiritual understanding - part 8
The fundamental objection to spiritual interpretation/understanding of prophecy is the assumed doctrine of the second of Christ. Must be personal, visible to all and physical and glorious.
The unbelieving Jews saw Jesus, but did not see him, heard him but did not hear him. E.g. Isaiah 6, John 8, John 12, Acts 28,
Why insist on the physical? In what way was/will be John 14:3 fulfilled?
When Jesus spoke of coming in Luke 21:27 the context relates to the destruction. Can we believe him? -
A Case for Giving Satan and his Angels Eternal Torment
I want to make the case that at least Satan and his angels deserve an eternity in hell.
They are in some way guilty for every sin that has ever been committed from Adam and the woman on in two ways:
1. This is because they are simply put evil. They agree with the sin of Adam and the woman, they govern the world in such a way as to be sinful and dark (1 John 5:19), and the bible gives the leader of the rebellion, Satan, the title: "the Evil One." Satan and his angel's dark hearts stand to... -

Love Alone Saves (Part 2)
Since we did not get to the bottom of this controversy between our Catholics here, I created this thread in hopes to find out why Catholics are in conflict among themselves over this issue.
The original thread which is closed now was at the following impasse, which we are awaiting to see if Utilyan and Adonia are being misrepresented here....
Herbert called Steaver out for libel and said, "Hmmm. I wonder if your statement here would qualify as libel. For neither utilyan or Adonia believe...
