The coming apostasy and the man of sin (2 Thess 2:1-5)
1 "Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it (the 2nd coming) will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts... -
Am I obsessed with tracts?
Is it the tracts or just passing out the gospel? I have 10-15K in tracts. I have lots of varieties of tracts and pass them out often and everywhere. Just today ordered a pack of tracts with a photo of Hitler on the front that I plan to mail out to every abortion center in the Denver metro area. But I will also preach the gospel JonC as I always do.
I wonder if I am just obsessed with the tracts or obsessed with evangelism itself. Another WOTM evangelist on FB boasts of passing out 100K... -
Edwards on "Limited Atonement" and Universal Redemption
Universal redemption must be denied in the very sense of Calvinists themselves, whether predestination is acknowledged or no, if we acknowledge that Christ knows all things. For if Christ certainly knows all things to come, he certainly knew, when he died, that there were such and such men that would never be the better for his death. And therefore, it was impossible that he should die with an intent to make them (particular persons) happy. For it is a right-down contradiction [to say that]... -
Was the miracle in the speaking or the hearing?
Acts 2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
2:11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
What, in your opinion, was the miracle at Pentecost? Were the disciples given the ability to speak all these different languages or were those present given the ability to hear the message in their own language while the disciples preached in their... -

New Years Resolutions?! What will you resolve to change for the better?
Evey year millions upon millions of humans make them, resolutions. Even I used to make them, that is until I discovered that the first thing broken soon after the holidays wasn't a present, but a well thought out resolution.
If you still resolve to switch a bad behavior with a new and improved one, what will yours be for 2017 and beyond???
And based on history, how successful have you been in keeping the resolution? -
Spin off the Magi and Bethlehem Star Threads . . .
Question for asterisktom and Biblicyst:
Mat 5:45 . . . for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good. . . .
Does the sun go round the earth, or is it the earth going round the sun and spinning on its axis? If it's the latter, did Christ know better?
If Christ knew better, then why not just say, he bringeth the evil and the good into the light of the sun? It's what we all think is really happening anyway. Why not say it that way instead of fostering ignorance and superstition? -
Not really a debate thread: What are your plans for Bible reading in 2017?
I'm trying to figure out if I want to read through the Bible again this year (I have a 5 day reading plan which works much better for me) or if I want to dig down deep into one book and I figured I'd see what everyone else is doing! -
Does your church have funeral guidelines?
I am going to be putting together our funeral guidelines in a brochure format for our congregation. Do any of your churches have something like this put together? Would it be possible to post it so I could get some ideas of what to include in ours? Thanks!
