Replacement Theology.......or-
I did not want to disrupt the other thread so-
http://replacementtheology.org/
This theme of Jew / Gentile unity is replayed so many times in the New Testament. To reject the premise of one people of God is almost to reject the message of Christianity. Here are just a few passages that show this overwhelming theme of unity.
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the... -
If a church needs a pastor....
Currently if a church needs a pastor - a church will advertise on a web site - whether it is denominational, on its own web site, or some other "looking for pastor" web page.
In the recent past - a church would contact a denominational leader and seek out potential candidates - most of whom were currently pastors of other churches. He would come preach once or twice- attend a church dinner to answer questions - and then voted on by the church.
Have you ever heard of a pastor going to a... -
Best sources for early Christian teachings (contemporary to NT texts?)
What are the best sources for learning about early church doctrine, and how they viewed the scriptures? Any free grace material on the early church?

The potters house
I do not know what all these churches teach but I just met a believer from the church here in Denver who is as sound as they get. Affirmed the essentials of the faith and did not deny the trinity nor the divine Christ. Affirmed the authority of all the Bible, the reality of Hell, salvation by grace, justification by faith, and such.
I know that they have some false teachings in the WOF message but what I cannot say is that all attenders in these churches are following another gospel.

grassroots churches
In a thread about people leaving churches I stated that sometimes that is because a given local body or a denomination as a whole has become rotten. Still believe that.
Also noticed a few who instantly see themselves able to judge that those folks are nonbelievers.
But I've also witnessed some exciting things in our town and area in general.
They get called bush Baptists because they live and meet out in the bush. Or mountain Methodists. Or long distance Lutherans. Or unassembled... -

Counting the cost
In the classic book on holiness by J.C. Ryle we find this;
Question.....are we our brothers keeper on this issue?
How do we go about it?
The people I speak of are not thoughtless about religion; they think a good deal about it. They are not ignorant of religion; they know the outlines of it pretty well. But their great defect is that they are not "rooted and grounded" in their faith. Too often they have picked up their knowledge second-hand, from being in religious families, or from being... -

Cain's Wife - [On Trial]
In 1925 during the Scopes "Monkey" Trials, the ACLU defense attorney, Clarence Darrow pulled an odd stunt and actually put the lead prosecuting attorney, William Jennings Bryan, on the witness stand.
What happened next (and I've read the entire transcript last year getting ready for a Genesis 1-3 Bible study), was nothing short of an attack on Byran's Christian beliefs. Here's the whole transcript: Beliefnet News - Top Religious... -
