A Case for the Post-Tribulation Rapture
I thought I'd post this since there has been some discussion lately regarding eschtology and some questions concerning the post-tribulational view of the rapture. This is long and i know many here (me included) have the attention span of a goldfish... but please press on and read. Check the scriptures.
First let me clarify what the “tribulation” is.
This period of time is NOT some future 7 year period of time where God’s wrath will be indiscriminately poured out on the planet. There is no... -
Old folks who think they love old things
It is interesting to me how many old people on this board and in our culture talk about loving things they call "old"
They love the "old hymns".
They love the "old mourner's bench."
They love old timey "camp meetings"
They say they are still standing for the old faith which consists of the Book (by which SOME, not all, of them mena the KJV), the blood (by which many of them mean divine blood- a new doctrine) and the blessed hope ( by which most of them mean the rapture.)
It is... -
Predestination
Since man is in such a deprived state and sin was passed down thru Adam to us. Thru our sinful nature, how are we able to make the decision to be saved without GOD helping us ? Are we that able to have something to do with our salvation ? Wouldn't that mean salvation isn't just up to GOD and that is our work and HIS GRACE combined ? -
"Doctrines of Grace", "TULIP", Augustine and Calvin
Since the thread was closed before anyone answered my question there, I am starting this thread hoping to get an answer:
Will someone kindly explain the difference between "Doctrines of Grace" and TULIP. Which petal(s) of the TULIP would DoG adherents not hold? -
If You Could Get In A Time Machine
The thread on light years got me to thinking about all the mysteries and possibilites there are in the Universe. Of course, we have all seen movies and read books on time travel, such as HG Wells, "The Time Machine" or "Back to the Future."
My question is, if you were given one opportunity to solve a great mystery to you, would you take a trip in a time machine to the Creation, Flood, the Transfiguration, the Ressurection, or maybe some other event in Scripture?
Which one would you... -
Original sin (pre-Augustine)
Irenaeus (130-202 AD) pre-dated Augustine of Hippo by 150 years. Irenaeus introduced the doctrine of original sin before Augustine, although the term "original sin" would be developed later. Two quotes from Irenaeus from his compilation, "Against Heresies."
"In the first Adam we offended God, not fulfilling His commandment...to Him alone we are debtors, whose ordinance we transgressed in the beginning." Against Heresies 5, 16, 3.
"In Adam disobedient man was stricken."
Ibid. 5,... -
Light years
We were all taught in school that it takes 8 seconds (@ the speed of light) for sun rays to get to Earth.
Many stars are a million light years away. Thus when their light arrives at earth we are seeing something that started a million years ago.
How does this coincide with a young (6 K years) Earth? -
Let your women keep silent...
Let your women keep silent in churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law says. (1 Cor. 14:34)
What does the Bible say about wemon preachers?
I have researched many doctrines/ teachings over the last 10 years and this one still puzzles me.
You have scriptures like 1 Cor. 14:38 and 1 Timothy 2:11-12 that tells wemon to keep silent and submissive.
Then you have scriptures like Joel 2:28/Acts 2:17 where it says mentions Son's and... -
John Calvin said...
"Those who assert that 'the earth moves and turns'...[are] motivated by 'a spirit of bitterness, contradiction, and faultfinding;' possessed by the devil, they aimed 'to pervert the order of nature.'"
- John Calvin, sermon no. 8 on 1st Corinthians, 677, cited in John Calvin: A Sixteenth Century Portrait by William J. Bouwsma (Oxford Univ. Press, 1988), A. 72 -
LIberty University Lifts Hands and Praises God!
Here is a neat 55 minute, live concert from Liberty University, led by Don Moen of Integrity Music. Can I suggest you leave the music on while you continue to do you cyber surfing and messaging? I think this concert of praise, and worship is well worth the time it takes to listen.
I know there was a thread about a pastor saying we may not be saved if we don't sing in church; well, I can promise you this, if you can listen to this concert of praise and worship music and not join in by...
