Human Emotions
I would love to hear some of "yall theologians and scholars speculate and explain why God created us with emotions. Emotions that are at times are so powerful and have great impact on our lives. Are they simply a natural property of the created? Are they intentional, for what reason(s)? -
This church sign just struck me as wrong.
I get the idea of having cutsie signs outside the church but I'm definitely not into them.
That said, this one was one that I saw and for half a second thought it was cute but then realized that it didn't set well with me.
"Church parking for church attendees only. All others will be baptized."
Have we diminished baptism so much that we joke about it like this? Is there any possible way a Baptist church (of which this was) would ever consider baptizing anyone who just parked... -
Converting From Baptist To Catholic
NO NO NO....Not me (I'm too secure in my salvation by grace through faith)
I'm talking about our fellow BB member named Walter. He seems like a nice fellow and sounds very sincere. He has posted a thread in the "Other Christian Denominations" forum (down south from here) which I want to encourage all you fellow Baptists to go down an take a look at. In it he gives his testimony and reasoning as to why he is about to make his conversion from being Baptist to being Catholic. I plan on... -
My Journey Into The Catholic Church
I was asked on another thread if I would be willing to share why I am becoming Catholic with people on this board.
I was brought up in a Baptist family, came to Christ (repented of my sins and trusted Christ as my Savior and Lord) at the age of eleven and was taught that if something is Catholic it has to be wrong.
Liturgy is definately part of Catholic worship and so it was to be rejected as ritualistic and repetitive praying. As an evangelical I thought the symbolism and ritual... -
The explanation of Catholic Beliefs
12 Strings;
You posted.
RCC believes in:
-Deity of Jesus Christ;
Yes they make this claim; but they worship His mother more than Him
-Virgin Birth; they make this claim; but they also believe that she continued as a virgin for eternity even though she had other children like James.
-God the Creator; Yes they make this claim; but they have many gods they place before Him and they kneel to actual Idles and pray.
-the Trinity; Actually they make this claim but there's is actually a... -
Hatred?
I ask why? The scriptures clearly state:
Pro 10:17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Pro 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
Pro 10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
And
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 ... -
Soul Sleep and Seventh Day Adventists
Until a few weeks ago I had only in passing heard some people believe in Soul Sleep and I dismissed it as flippantly as hearing a grown adult still believes in Santa Clause or something. Then I attended a friend of mine's sermon, who is an SDA pastor, the title of his sermon was "Are there such a thing as ghosts" To which I was intrigued because I do study and practice deliverance, and was anxious to hear how he was going to answer that one! (Yes there are spirits all around us but they are... -
The "I" problem
We've all got it. "I" know "I" do.
But some people DON'T know they have an "I" problem.
Some people don't realize that they are constantly trying to paint themselves as super-spiritual people.
"I"M the kind of person that would give the shirt off his back..."
"I just hate to see Christians fussing and fighting..." (Implying that he does not condescend to this vile behavior. He has risen above it, and wishes that we poor immature people could rise to his level of spirituality)
But... -
Pope Benedict to Resign at End of Month
Pope Benedict XVI in shock resignation
Pope Benedict XVI is to resign at the end of this month after nearly eight years as the head of the Catholic Church, saying he is too old to continue at the age of 85.
The unexpected development surprised governments, Vatican-watchers and even the 85-year-old's closest aides.
The Vatican says it expects a new Pope to be elected before the end of March, ahead of Easter.
Papal resignations are not unknown, but this is the first in the modern era.

A response... from a thread not yet shut down
Oh, I do not think I am in error at all. Yes, there are people who use religion as an excuse to persecute the Jews (and others), but there is very much the PUBLIC who believes and supports these evil politicians because religion justified these actions.
I just posted this:
If I have been deceived, then so have most historians. Perhaps you are not allowing for the real effect of religious teachings on people's actions such as the persecution of the Jews in Nazi Germany.
