The explanation of Catholic Beliefs
12 Strings;
You posted.
RCC believes in:
-Deity of Jesus Christ;
Yes they make this claim; but they worship His mother more than Him
-Virgin Birth; they make this claim; but they also believe that she continued as a virgin for eternity even though she had other children like James.
-God the Creator; Yes they make this claim; but they have many gods they place before Him and they kneel to actual Idles and pray.
-the Trinity; Actually they make this claim but there's is actually a... -
Hatred?
I ask why? The scriptures clearly state:
Pro 10:17 He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Pro 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
Pro 10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
And
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Soul Sleep and Seventh Day Adventists
Until a few weeks ago I had only in passing heard some people believe in Soul Sleep and I dismissed it as flippantly as hearing a grown adult still believes in Santa Clause or something. Then I attended a friend of mine's sermon, who is an SDA pastor, the title of his sermon was "Are there such a thing as ghosts" To which I was intrigued because I do study and practice deliverance, and was anxious to hear how he was going to answer that one! (Yes there are spirits all around us but they are... -
The "I" problem
We've all got it. "I" know "I" do.
But some people DON'T know they have an "I" problem.
Some people don't realize that they are constantly trying to paint themselves as super-spiritual people.
"I"M the kind of person that would give the shirt off his back..."
"I just hate to see Christians fussing and fighting..." (Implying that he does not condescend to this vile behavior. He has risen above it, and wishes that we poor immature people could rise to his level of spirituality)

Pope Benedict to Resign at End of Month
Pope Benedict XVI in shock resignation
Pope Benedict XVI is to resign at the end of this month after nearly eight years as the head of the Catholic Church, saying he is too old to continue at the age of 85.
The unexpected development surprised governments, Vatican-watchers and even the 85-year-old's closest aides.
The Vatican says it expects a new Pope to be elected before the end of March, ahead of Easter.
Papal resignations are not unknown, but this is the first in the modern era.

A response... from a thread not yet shut down
Oh, I do not think I am in error at all. Yes, there are people who use religion as an excuse to persecute the Jews (and others), but there is very much the PUBLIC who believes and supports these evil politicians because religion justified these actions.
I just posted this:
If I have been deceived, then so have most historians. Perhaps you are not allowing for the real effect of religious teachings on people's actions such as the persecution of the Jews in Nazi Germany.

Must we be calvinists?
This thread was motivated by (1) comments in the "let the best theology win" thread about calvinist pastors hiding thier beliefs, and (2) the recent threads attacking John Calvin and assuming that calvinists are simply the cult-followers of a murderous man.
Which leads me to my primary question, with a few corollary questions:
PRIMARY: Must a Baptist person who believes that 4 or 5 of the soteriological points of calvinism are correct, then identify himself/herself as a calvinist?... -
Is There Something in the Water?
Seems like there has been more than the normal bickering on BB this past week. Just saw three closed threads this morning in the Theology area alone. People calling others jackasses, threads about Calvinism leading to racism and naziism, and general nastiness freely displayed in public.
Impressive...even for baptists. -
Variations of Calvinism - Which Are You -- If Any
I did not want this thread to be limited just to those of us who are Baptist. So, others please join in.
I get the feeling that many who call themselves Calvinist seem to believe that Calvinist is monolithic, that is there is only one form of Calvinism, only one Calvinist school of thought. That is an error. So I wonder how the good Calvinist folk on the BB would label themselves.
Types of Calvinism:
Five Point Calvinist
Four Point Calvinist
Hyper-Calvinist
Neo-Calvinist

Religious beliefs of the founding fathers
Good Christian folks exist in either of the two theological positions.
I just post this to make this point: If Calvinism is "heresy" or "false doctrine" as so many "non-cals" so often state on here, then our founding fathers were largely a bunch of heretics. Below are the religious views of the signers of the Constitution.
I found this that someone worked out. The religious view identified is consistent with the statement of faith for the particular denomination of which the founder was...
